Lower rpms inbound! Gear Vendor install
Having gone to 4.30 gears for heavy towing, the advantages have been great, especially living in the mtns on back roads. Running stock tires in my 99 F350 srw cclb.
I now have more long trips empty in the highway, and while not a major issue, spinning 2500+ rpms all day does get tiresome. So after my 11hr trip to Lucas Oil Speedway for UCC 2023 I ordered a Gear Vendor, as it seems about the best fit for my needs.
It finally arrived yesterday, I snapped these rushed and sloppy pictures before having to head out of the shop to eat dinner with the family.
I have zero idea when I will get this thing installed, it will likely be several weeks until I find the time, busy getting ready for winter, and in top if that it is deer season…..

back in '75, right after I bought a new 454 Suburban, long trips from our home to my parents and the wife's parents, was getting Expensive.
ah, I'll just install a Gear Vendors and SAVE a lot of money.
a bit of math revealed it would take 100,000 miles to break even with the SAVINGS in fuel costs.
fuh ged aboot it

Totally agree. I feel the weakest area of these old trucks is Interstate cruising. It's mentally and physically wearing hearing your baby spinning frantically for no purpose. I really like your idea and look forward to hearing the results.

To bad 3rd over wouldn't be like a .85 od so you'd have a nice usable gear between 3 and stock 4th for towing.
Is there some kind of safety feature built into is so somebody doesn't accidentally click it into overdrive while it's in 4x4. That probably wouldn't work out well. lol

Yes there is a security system to disable accidental engagement if t-case is engaged.
