1990 f250 speedo gear ball bearing

Does anyone know the size of the ball bearing that is used as a key for the speedo gear on the bw 1356 transfer case?

Didn’t like the answer you got the last time so you started a new thread with the same topic? There is no bearing in the driven gear assembly

Are you asking about the drive gear inside the transfer case? I would think an exploded diagram would tell you the part number.

The steelie goes in a hole on the tail shaft of the transmission or transfer case on his
That with a little spring retainer clip holds the drive gear in position on the tail shaft
The driven gear is just square keyed to the cable and no need or room for any steelie, correct.
Number 24 in the diagram is the steelie he is talking about
It holds the gear (4) next to the spring retainer (3)
Note: The 1356 manual shift case apparently does not use the little ball, only the electric shift version

I tried a 1/4" ball bearing like that PN gives but it was small. may have been undersized, I need to check it with calipers. I ordered another set of standard and also metric ball bearings. Will see which works best and post it.

So what was the size of the ball bearing that you ended up using??? I am going through the same situation. I actually need the steel retaining ring which i cannot find for the life of me. But I also need the ball bearing but I need to know the size. You never did post it.

of the sets i got i couldnt get anything to work. I settled with adding a small piece of rubber between the shaft and ball bearing to tighten it up. Haven't had an issue yet.

I have spent most of my day looking for one and found it on amazon. It was for sale by trans parts online. They do carty the gear for the electric shift as well. I accidentally ordred it insread of the one for the manual t-case.
