Cracked Ehhaust Valves

I have a '11 F250, 6.7, 4x4 with 77000 on the clock. It's in the shop with cracked valves on #2 and 3. Been rabid about maintenance. Use Mobil 1 diesel and Wix filters. Also use Opti Lube XTP fuel additive. Called Ford about help and they said "tough". Don't understand it. The truck has never been overheated or experienced and other issues. I'm looking at a $10K repair bill and there is no reason I should have had this problem. Any help with this sure would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Greg

If I remember correctly the 2011's valve failure is generally caused by a broken glow plug tip.

It wasn't caused by the glow plugs. It was caused by the exhaust valve seats coming out of the head. The glow plug damaged was used to determine if this was the failure without disassembling the engine.

Ford can't warranty them forever. It went 77k miles without any issues so you need to look for the cause. I doubt it was a assembly or part failure. Something caused it and you need to find it. When you say cracked valves, has it been torn down and inspected already? Who is doing the work? Are they qualified to do the work?

I'd love to see a picture of the heads and the valves. Cracked valve seats I've heard of but cracked valves, it would be a rare thing.

It had to do with the engines built before 1 april 2010....the exhaust valve seat were not properly sized and would come out of the heads causing the damage.

No tuner, box stock. I have always used Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel oil and Wix filters and I also use Opti Lube XPD fuel additive. Always been rabid about checking fluid levels and other maintenance.

As for "I got 77000 what am I complaining about", We all know that that engine, properly maintained, should go at lease 300000 without needing to be taken apart.

Sorry for your troubles. This kind of thing always sucks. However, with this being said, I think Ford warranty specifically says FIVE YEARS or 100,000 miles, WHICHEVER COMES FIRST. Myself, I would not even have expected anything from them. If they wanted to help, fine, if not, so be it. But that may be just my way of thinking. No warranty lasts forever.

As I said earlier, box stock. I got the build date and it is 3/24//10 so I have asked the shop to examine the head to check for loose valve seats. Spoke to Ford CSR super and again, no joy. This isn't over. Those who think I'm wrong should have this problem themselves. As I said, the truck was rabidly maintained AND garaged. Absolutely no reason for failure at this low mileage.

Ah, yes, symptoms. Check engine came on. I had O"reilly Auto check it out and they got a generic code of P0622 which is a fuel imbalance. That's why it went to the dealer in the first place.

Can someone explain why it will cost $10,000 to repair this engine?
