66 speedo cable and gears

Ok I’ve been dealing with my speedo being off for awhile and am getting tired of using my phone as a speedo. I have a 352 with a 3 on the tree. What cable will I need and then can I buy all the gears so I don’t get the wrong one and have to wait more days to get another. Part numbers would be great. Thanks

F100 or F250? 2WD or 4WD? If it's an F100 2WD, is it a 3 M/T or 3 M/T with Overdrive?

Also need the rear axle ratio and the original bias ply tire size.

Its a F100, 2wd 3 speed with 3.25 rear end. No clue on original tires. Didn’t have originals when I got it. If the gears are color coded, I have the green, lime colored one.

I'm going to assume that the original bias ply tire size was 7.75 x 15, because this was the size on my 1965 F100 352 8' Styleside Dana 44 3.54-1 w/stick and over.

How do you know if the DRIVEN gear that your truck has is the original or not? Is the speedo reading slow or fast?

The DRIVE gear is 7T steel (C3OZ-17285-C). Haven't got around to the DRIVEN gear yet.

Speedo Cable is C5TZ-17260-N 64.80" long.

I'll finish this up tomorrow. I've been on here all day, haven't eaten yet.

After over half a century of being on and off the road, there’s no way to know if this truck has the original gear. It could be. But it might not be. The speedo is reading slow.

Thanks for the info. So if switching to the 16t driven gear doesn’t make the speedo right on or close to, is there any adjustment I can make to fine tune it? Also, what number are the bulbs for the interior dash? It’s just a regular round gauge base model.

Also I was looking at dc for those parts. The pn you gave me comes up as a 67- for f100s. While there’s another one similar to it for 65-66. Is it just length difference?

No. Well, you *can* have the speedometer head re-magnetized, but the odometer will still be off. And it's expensive IF you can find someone who can do this.

IIRC, 1895 will work well.

Ford part numbers, for many, many years, had the year of first usage coded into the part number.
The first letter is the decade: B = 50's, C = 60's, D = 70's, and so forth.
The second digit, denotes the year within that decade.
The part numbers given were all from the 'Slick' era.

The part numbers I listed came from the 1964/72 Ford Truck Parts Catalog and are listed for 1965/66.

They may have been used in other years, but I gave you the applications that apply since you have a 1966 F100 2WD

I don't give a **** what Carpenter lists, I go by what Ford says.

Ok lol just wanted to make sure it wasn’t a typo or anything since the numbers were only one digit off from each other on dc.
