Trading Trucks... having problem getting a dealer swap
Well I've decided to trade the 2017 CCLB KR SRW for a 2019 version. I've got a dealer that's giving me top dollar for my trade and we're just having a hard time finding a dealer that will give a truck up.
I've found a few platinums and loaded KRs out there that meet my wants, but most are 500+ miles away from TN. Guess I'm looking for unicorns.. long bed with factory 5th wheel prep. Was really wanting a magma red but can't find one that meets my needs. Didn't want white again, but will take it. So, hoping that a Ruby or a Blue Jeans platinum will be able to be dealer swapped.

I've been wondering this as well. I feel lucky just to be able to afford only one. I plan to keep it forever, so maybe not to much in the scheme of things. But I don't plan in having payments forever.

Traded my 2017 F350 Lariat CCSB Value pkg with 19,800 miles on it fior an ordered 2019 F350 Lariat Ultimate.
Thae 2017 had MSRP of $65,810. Paid $61,000. Trade offer was $54,102. So it cost me $6,898 in depreciation to keep it 20 months and 19,800 miles. That’s $344/mo in depreciation and about $125/mo in lost interest for total of $469/mo. Actually not bad.
The ordered 2019 had MSRP of $74,015. X-plan price was $69,628 plus $100 dealer fee, minus $500 ford cash, minus $250 USAA cash, minus $3,000 PCO = $65,978. When I fell into the $3k PCO I jumped on ordering a new truck.
I loved the 2017 but I wanted options that were not on the 2017 I bought off dealer lot. Those options were LED headlights, Adaptive Cruise, BLIS, Power running boards, Rapid Heat supplemental heater, Roof clearance lights, Universal garage door opener, Adaptive steering etc.

The first truck I financed was a '06 Dodge I bought in '09. Traded it in 2013 on a '07 Dodge with positive equity. Had the '07 Dodge paid off when I traded it on my first brand new truck...2016 Ram. $12,500 trade allowance for my '07 (paid $15k for it and drove it 4 years).
Traded the 2016 Ram on the new Superduty. I had $9k positive equity to use toward my Ford (owed 26k, dealer gave me 35k).
I plan to keep my Ford long after it's paid off. If I need another truck, I'll rebuild an older one....but I hate the way new vehicles are going, so I don't see myself buying anything newer in my lifetime...

It's a tax game if you own a business. I usually trade mine every 2 years after depreciated. These trucks hold their value so well it really doesn't cost much. Traded my 2017 with 20,000 miles on it for my new 2019 with more options for less than 10k out the door.

Good to know there is a tax game afoot, our accountant advised me to buy through the business so I did. Maybe I'll be able to get the ruby red in a couple years. I couldn't find any that color with my options when I was ready to buy, except one, that someone bought two days before I committed to purchasing. Indeed they do hold their value. I considered buying a used, until I saw the price. Then was like, why the hell not just go ahead and get a new one then lol.
