1950 delivery truck

Saw this truck for sale on my way home today here in Kennewick, WA. I am not sure what I would do with it and my wife would kill me if I brought it home but it is cool!

I've been driving by that for months now trying really hard not to stop. It looks rougher in that pic than I thought it was, going by at 35-40mph. That roof looks hammered.

Something like this I always thought would make a really cool swap meet hauler. You could carry a lot of junk, er, treasures, in that.

Interesting you say that, Skip. I'll relate a story if anyone is interested. Back int 1967 I bought a 1963 Boyertown bodied DRW Ford panel about like the one shown. It may have been a bit longer. I bought it directly from Frito Lay potato chip co. I replaced the tired six cyl engine with a Y block and the three speed tranny with a four speed. I re geared it to 4:10 final and converted it to a basic motorhome. We drove it for several years, traveled thousands of miles and used it to pull our boat.
Sometime in the 1970s, that vehicle was purchased by a young couple who was going to ALASKA. So somewhere in Alaska there is possibly the remains of that unit. BTW, it was two tone, blue and with a white band down both sides.

What year is it? With that grille it could be anywhere from a 55 up to 60 something. Ford used the same 55 type grille for many years. But it can't be used on conventional cabs.... it is too short.

Hi Abe,
the van is a 1955 p350 model.
Ford made the chassis and Vanette finished the body.
8 lug wheels and it seems the gas tank is the same as the f100 models panel vans.
someone swapped a Y-block and 4 speed although a crackhead stole the 4 spd and kids broke all the glass..

im looking for a hood..
they all should be the same from 53 to 70s as
i have plans

You sure it's a 1955? 1953/66 F350 & P350 have 6 lug wheels on a 7.25" bolt circle.

Beginning in 1967, F350/P350's have 8 lug wheels on a 6.50" bolt circle.

** Fuel tank = 1953/60 F100 Panels, 1953/64: P100/500; F100/350 Chassis & Cowl and Cowl & Windshield (neither has a cab).

Pic from 1948/56 truck catalog, same pic in 1964/72 truck catalog.

My dad bought a '56, I think, back in the early '80s. I think he paid something like $200 for. The outside was two tone beige/brown, brush painted house paint latex. The inside was made into a camper by someone with real carpentry talent, not a wasted inch of space and the woodwork and upholstery was very nice. My dad drove it a couple of times to go camping but lost interest but as I was a teenage at the time I had a lot of fun with it for a few years driving up to the woods and camping out with it. It was either a 3/4 ton or one ton truck, it had eight lug single axle wheels like my F-2, I remember it had the same hubcaps and had a really tired six cylinder engine. There was one extremely long steep hill on the interstate I had to go over. One long holiday weekend on the way back home I had cars backed up a mile or more behind me as I went up the hill, topping out at about 10 mph. We had a lot of good times in that van. I wish I had taken pictures of it. After my dad died my mom had someone clear the yard and scrap the van.

P35 = P350 (P series Parcel Delivery).

D = 223 1V I-6.

5 = 1955.

H = Detroit Truck Assembly Plant.

Wheels could be 8 lug 16" x 5.5" or 8 lug 17.5" x 5.5" .. both on a 6.50" bolt circle.

1957/66 P350's have 6 lug wheels on a 7.25" bolt circle.
---------------------------------------------------------------
The "hood" is referred to in the parts catalog as the upper grille panel, see 8190 in pic in post # 12.

8J-8190 .. Upper Grille Panel / Obsolete

1948/52 F3/F5 Parcel Delivery; 1953/63 P series Parcel Delivery. Not listed after 1963, catalog says "procure from body company."

No Ford dealer or obsolete parts vendor has any.
------------------------------------------------------
21T-13208 .. Parking Lamp Lens - Round type / Obsolete ~ This lens may be reproduced.

1942/47 Commercial (1/2 ton) & trucks except COE; Late 1947 & 1948 Ford Passenger Cars; 1951/52 F3/F5 Parcel Delivery & 1953/55 P Series Parcel Delivery. 1956 and later is different.

NOS PARTS SOURCE in Olathe KS has 1 = 913-220-5746.

GREEN SALES CO. in Cincinnati OH has 1 = 800-543-4959.

MCDONALD OBSOLETE PARTS in Rockport IN has 25 = 812-359-4965.

Lower pic shows lens as 13208 .. notice that the bezel and etc parts are separate.
