Chance to buy 337 flathead or so i think

A friend works at the local custom shop and they have had a flathead V8 sitting in their shop for close to a year. He says it is the "biggest one" ford made so im thinking 337 cu in. He says it came from running truck they did a while back.My question is what should i be looking for to prove its a 337 and I know he wants to get rid of it so i offered $250. How high should i go on a complete engine I really don't know about.

To prove its a 337 = just one look = the distributor is in the rear. He really wants to get rid of it. He probably will
take 250 or hound him in 10 dollar steps like American Pickers do. I would post a picture, but I no longer
can on this site anymore sam I did it in only 2 hours to insert a picture "ain't broke but they gotta fix it"

genuine 337 truck engine

If it's the 337 and you're used to looking at 239's, you'll know in an instant just by looking at the immenseness of it. They are huge in comparison.
