code 212 , engine bucks

Vehicle : 1996 Ford E350 based RV , 460 code G EFI ,

freshly rebuilt the engine to 9,2 to 1 cr , lunati cam , ported heads & intake , 28 lbs Bosch injectors ,balanced , 400hp /500 torque ......

Before rebuilt , never had this code or any codes ....now this code 212 keeps on coming back !
Code 212= Loss of ignition diagnostic monitor signal/ SPOUT circuit grounded

The engine starts great , a little rough/ idling , but stabilizes when warm ( coolant sensor operative ) ,

When I put it in gear ,it runs better ,,,,,,
I take off , it can either be real smooth and peppy or bucks continuously unless I floor it ,then it picks up ! code 212 comes on all the time
ICM on fender GRAY with Ford p/n: E7DF-12A297-A2A ( seems original factory ) take note that before engine rebuild never had a code for over 2 years I own this RV , I took great care of all connectors when I removed engine and when reinstalled ....

Up to now , I checked the pink wire from ICM connector to spout , it`s ok ( continuity ), and if I unconnect spout when running , it runs rough at initial timing 10 deg...
I cleaned all connections EEC-IV , ICM , ( just in case )

I did so many searches , they keep saying that the ICM should be black ( 94+ )......but everywhere ( auto parts store , rockauto etc... show a gray one )
and that it shoundt start , but it does and normaly too.....

I'm really lost !!!
I read some active members here that seems to be quite good at this !
Hope they will chime ,

Thank you
Dan ,

I'd post this in the FTE sub-forum dealing with that engine family---some one there will have a vast knowledge of your condition. If this didn't exist before the rebuild most likely its not too difficult to solve.

Good luck with this!

I have had this code almost the entire time I have owned my '94 E-150 351W. Could you explain or provide a link explaining the differences between the two ICMs?

Thanks!
