Mercury GM Cruise Control

Is there any chance that you folks might have some information on troubleshooting a 2002 Mercury GM? Wifes cc has been out for awhile and I haven't been able to discover much troubleshooting information on it. I can tell you that the horn and the hazard lights are all functioning correctly and from what I can tell the brake switch is testing well because it was removed and put a meter on it. Just don't want to start throwing parts at it if I can avoid it. Any advice would be appreciated.

Start with checking the deactivator switch on the brake master cylinder.

Thank you for your help!

The car does't have one, it does however have a standard brake pedal release switch which tested fine when you pull it out and probe it. If the brake switch was intended to have a plunger pad on it, which the car doesn't seem to have now that could be the issue but I have no way of knowing if it did. The cruise module has 12 volts when the 'on' button is pressed but quickly goes away after releasing. Guess I will continue to test.

Oops, on that car the deactivator switch is mounted on the brake pedal support.
