Transmission issues in my 2000 F350 4x4 7.3L

First off, I just had a reman 4R100 PRB-DM automatic transmission w/ Premier E40D-8HD torque converter installed in January. I use my truck for personal and for work. I'm a contractor. I tow my 14'x7' tongue hitch not gooseneck, dump trailer and my Kubota SSV75 skidsteer. Yesterday I was hauling some concrete debris to dispose of. On my way I encountered an incline, not too steep either, on the highway @ 50mph. I was speeding up or attempting to but it didn't kick down the gear to increase rpms so I logged up the short incline. Once I crested everything was fine. On my way back, after dumping the debris, I noticed the "OFF" blinking on the shifter handle and overdrive wasn't working. Shortly after, I was parked and turned my truck off then restarted and everything seemed fine. Except the next load I hauled, which was pretty light, my truck's transmission would basically shift into neutral it seemed and I'd pull over, recycle the ignition and restart and it'd be fine. Now it won't shift into reverse, meaning I can shift into reverse but nothing happens. My drive gears work going forward but not reverse. Any ideas would be appreciated, thanx

Flashing Off light indicates a code for the transmission, get that checked and report back.

2002 F250 5.4 trans problem

Hello all,
i hope someone can help me with this. The problem I am having is the transmission won't down shift to first gear when slowing or stopping unless I put the shift lever into fist gear. It upshifts and downshifts through every other gear normally. In the summer when the trans is really warm if I pull up to a stop sign and stop, when I hit the throttle, it starts out in second gear, then downshifts to first. Using a scanner, I watch the shift solenoid asking for fisrt gear, so I don't think it's the solenoid pack. I have changed the fluid and filter... Any ideas, let me know, thanks

I have a scan tool that can read trans codes, there aren't any. The o/d off light never flashes to indicate there is a trans code

Ok I went to two different auto parts stores and both read no codes everytime the key is turned off, it resets the O/D setting back to Overdrive on mode. Then on my way home, the frikkin OFF starts blinking.. i'm going to the transmission shop that installed this trans back in the end of January.
I'll update tomorrow with the known problem.

Auto parts stores can't read Ford transmission codes. They use cheap, generic code readers. You need Ford specific software, and they don't have it.

This is too confusing. Instead of hijacking someone else's post start a new one with your problem.

Question, will a bad MLPS sensor cause my transmission not to shift into/engage reverse?

Mark, what about the VSS or OSS sensor? Can they cause issues shifting into gears?

Can they make the shifting a little harsh or soft? Yes, they can. Can they be the reason it won't shift into reverse? No, they cannot.

Not shifting into reverse can only be something mechanical. There is no sensor or anything electronic that can prevent reverse.
