I bought the bus in Florida before I moved to Montana didn't blow much black smoke in Florida now in Montana it blows enough black smoke to blind people behind me any ideas would be appreciated thank you in advance
When you were at sea level, there was more oxygen in the air to mix with the fuel, thus it burned cleaner in Florida. Now that you are at higher altitude, the air has less oxygen, thus with each stroke, there is unburned fuel escaping the tail pipe. That's the black smoke. Turn your fuel screw down a flat or 1.5 flats. For a video on how to do that in a IDI van or bus, check my YouTube channel.

Ok, a few things are going on here. One, you are in a bus, so driving the bus with a 6.9 IDI in it, you will naturally black smoke when working hard. However as stated above this does also come in to play more than usual due to your being much higher in elevation. My 1985 6.9 IDI is set to stock California settings, I smoke a bit here in Montana. It is what they do, just don't go crazy with it. Now, also Montana has VERY different terrain than Florida, such as mountains. When you are "lugging" up a mountain or a pass, you will smoke like a chimney that is on fire filled with burning tires. It will be epic, but that just lets you know you might be working it a bit too hard.
As an owner of an IDI in Montana, smoke is normal, you do not need to adjust anything. Simply adjust your foot and let up on the pedal just a bit.
Thank you for the information I'll try to be more light footed if you don't mind I have one more question that came to mind is it possible to take the 6.9 out of my bus rebuild it and put it in my 85 6.9 pickup then rebuild the pickup 6.9 and put it in the bus?

Yes, they are the same motor. The oil pan is reversed I believe. But you can just turn it around. Also the Injection Pump is also turned slightly down on bus engines. Other than that, they are identical.
