Instrument Cluster Swap Question

I have been reading on doing the instrument cluster swap for one with the tach and it looks like 92-93 are compatible and 94-95 are compatible. What about going from a 250 into a 150. A local wrecking yard has a couple 94 250's with gas motors and I have a 95 150. Headed there tomorrow and will try and grab the cluster out of a 250 if it will work.

As long as you are going with those years and as long as it's a gas motor you should be okay. Me, I went with a '94 Lightning 120mph cluster for my '94 LB 5 speed and used the plastic PRNDL block off plate off my original cluster....

Thanks! Will the bezel that goes around the cluster swap between them as well?

Yes it will and you take your old speedometer and use it in the new cluster to keep your mileage and tire set up.

Great! My bezel is smashed around one of the vents and a local yard just got a 94 F250 gas in the other day.

Well they had a 92 150 with no bezel but the cluster was in perfect shape, too bad it wasn't a couple years newer. The 250 had a broken bezel and no cluster. Came away empty handed this time, oh well.

My local PaP has one, I thought about flipping it on eBay, haven’t snagged it yet though.

Pick N Pull here sells them for 40 bucks. The only one I could find was in a 92. I should have snagged it and put it on ebay. If you end up grabbing one and it's good, let me know.

I think they’re about $40 for the cluster at my Pullapart. Did you need the bezel too? I don’t think one of the vents was 100%, but it was in pretty good shape overall.

I have the bezel, mine just has some cracks around the left vent so I'm just on the lookout for one in really good condition.

I believe '92-'96 are identical, I just grabbed a '92 cluster and it looks identical to the '95 cluster in my truck minus the airbag light I presume. If you're interested, let me know, otherwise I'll clean it up and put it up on eBay.

1992 F-150 XLT instrument cluster w/tach

The bezel was gone, I pulled a week or to ago, but left it on the seat since one of the vents was a little broken... saved someone some trouble!

It's tempting but I have read that only 92-93 and 94-95 are compatible. I think you can make it work but you have to cut and splice some wires which I didn't really want to do. Bummer

They are physically identical but NOT electrically compatible. Even the 92 to 96 E-series van clusters are physically the same as the F-series clusters but they are not electrically compatible with any years of the F-series trucks.

You can repin the vehicle's harness to make it work as I did when I put a F-series tach cluster into my 95 E350 Bus.
