Calling Canada

Hi, my partner and I are shortly going on a trip to Canada. Starting at Vancouver and then going in to the Rockies. Passing through Whistler, Jasper, Clearwater and of course smaller towns. Departing from Calgary. I just wondered if their might be any Cruise night or shows along the way that we might be able to make.

Many Thanks
Suffolkman

Are you renting and driving throught the Rockies ?

That will be a nice trip for you. So much to see. There is a car museum located in or near Sicamous, BC as well as the local car shows.

We are 20 mins west of Calgary. Keep us posted and message me if you need anything on your trip through.

That's very kind of you. We are renting a car. We are doing mostly 2 nights and a couple of threes at smaller hotels and guesthouses. On Van cover Island first stop.

There is a place you might want to stop at for parts in Langley near Vancouver. It is best to ask well in advance if you need them to order stuff in though, They are very helpful.

Hi...great trip so far and fantastic scenery. Been looking at the car show lists sent earlier. Tomorrow (Sunday) we are travelling between Whistler making our way to Jasper. Would there be any shows close to that route ?.

Whistler to Jasper would be a very ambitious day, doable but a lot of windshield time. You would probably go Highway 5 to Kamloops, then Jasper. H% bipasses a lot of the smaller towns. Are you planing on driving south from Jasper to Banff, then Calgary ? A very scenic drive (1 Day with lots of photo ops). The road parallels the mountains, so lots of views.

Banff had a mini car show yesterday but rain "dampened" the day.

Hi, sorry for the delay in my reply. Yes you are exactly right, that is our intended route. In Clearwater now and off to Jasper tomorrow (Tuesday). Fantastic scenery and some good bird life...but only one bear so far. Hoping to be able to photograph a bear or two if we get the chance. Finishing off in Canmore for the last couple of nights before heading for Calgary airport. On Father’s Day saw several old trucks coming off the ferry at Departure Bay, looks like their must have been a show on the island. Just bad timing for us as we were leaving the island.

Canmore is less commercial than Banff, a bit cheaper but both have great scenery and good hiking. Lake Louise, Bow Falls in Banff; Grassi Lakes in Canmore.

Stay away from the bears particularly near civilization. The are not teddy bears and they are not as fearful of humans as
those in the wild. And stay away from any cubs. Momma bear will NOT accept any interference.

Pictures?
