03 F-250 to 18 F-150

I'm thinking about make the move from my superduty to the F-150. 03 is a 7.3 CCSB. I love the new Superduties, but for the amount of times I use my truck to it's full capacity, I can't justify and would prefer something that's a little better for daily driving.

For those that have made the move, any regrets?
Also, how much will I miss the 6'8" bed vs. a 5.5' if I go with the 145" F-150 SCREW.

I came from Super Duties. But my SuperCrew has a 6.5' bed. Years ago, I g=had an "01 SuperCrew with a 5.5' bed. Rarely was it an issue. It hauled most everything I needed it to. If it was too much for the truck, I used a utility trailer. Which I still do today for big, heavy items, due to it's ;ow load height and reduced wear on the truck.

I had a '02 7.3. I would have never given up my 7.3.... but it was stolen with a mere 304k on it.
I had an '11 6.7, great truck and engine. Skip the 6.7 unless you absolutely need that capacity... sold it.
Had a '13 eco, traded with 147k on it, have a '17 eco.
I will not go back.

I too traded in my 2002 7.3L. I do miss that engine and the simplicity that came with it and how easy it was to work on. But I do love this truck so much more. No regrets.

I’m not too worried about missing the 7.3. It’s treated me well, but the newer stuff is much more refined.

I am am a bit worried about missing the bed, especially if I go with the 5.5’ f-150. I’m leaning that way as it will be much more practical for daily driving and a 5.5 will fit in my garage where the longer beds do not.

Do you think that you`ll need such a long bed?
Personally, I like the SuperCrew with the 5.5 bed and it`s much easier to park and drive around than a 6 or 8 foot bed.
Full disclosure, I didn`t come from a SD but I do have a 2016 SuperCrew Lariat with the 5.5 bed and I have never needed the entire bed for anything.

I`d say the best thing for you to do is to go by your dealer this weekend and try to drive all three bed lengths with a SuperCrew cab and see which one you like best. Also, the room inside of the SuperCrew, especially in the back seat area is huge and probably larger than your current SD.

Well I liked the last 2 trucks I had,Except for the 5.5 bed. Thats why I odered my 2018 Lariat with the 6.5 bed. it's only one foot longer so parking is really not an issue. but now my Fishing poles fit staight which makes it so much easier to load cooler, tackle boxes etc.

Keep in mind, if you snag a few 8 foot 2x every now and then for a project, they fit diagonally in the bed with tailgate closed. Helpful in securing items from theft if you have a shell or bed cover.

The bed length is entirely subjective. Personally a 5.5' would be nearly unusable .

I came over from a Ram with a 6.5' bed and I miss that extra foot. Makes a huge difference. But I didn't have the SuperCrew cab either so overall length was about the same so parking wasn't an issue.
