351W oil filler cap / PCV confusion (56K warning, attachments)
Hey all, I just got an '85 F150 in my hands and I'm trying to get it all together bit by bit. 4x4 351HO with a C6. The first thing I'm having trouble with is this oil filler cap. I've seen there's a lot written about the PCV system so if this has been covered, I apologize for glossing over it. I had trouble finding anything relevant to my truck/engine.
Truck sat for years and years. My first step was an oil change, and the first thing I noticed is that the oil filler cap on the driver side valve cover is hanging by a thread. The fit is so bad, I feel like the torque of the engine under load could probably be enough to let it slip off. It won't seem to tighten down, so it looks like it has to go. I ordered a replacement off rock auto, and it's not at similar to what's there. It doesn't have the stem and tube connection which I've now learned is part of a PCV system which should connect to the air filter housing. Won't fit the valve cover either anyway. I've scoured and scoured the internet for parts but at first everything I saw was for older straight sixes and 70s Broncos? Until recently, I found Scott Drake parts that LOOK like what I need. I can't see the bottom of the connection to know if it's a match to my valve cover.
Here's what I think I need: https://www.npdlink.com/store/produc...813-60318.html
I'll attach some pictures I took of what's there. I was hoping someone could verify what I need. My LMC truck catalog reflects a similar cap that rock auto advertised, and also a twist cap with a tube like what I have *but* specified for something else (1982-83 3.8L). The rock auto part was cheap enough that I don't mind the hit (which was probably $3 or $5 if that) but the new part is about 10x anything rock auto sells ($30) so I just want to be certain.
Thanks for reading!

The missing breather inside the air filter housing? NAPA has it, part #2992. I just picked up one a couple of days ago. It has the plastic housing and the filter element:

I could have sworn it includes the clip for the outside, but it's not in the picture.

I thought "56K" was the typical warning in forum talk! Maybe I should have used the 21st century translation "R.I.P. mobile users"
Thanks for the diagram! It seems opposite from mine. The passenger side/rearmost vent looks like it goes to my carb/intake mani and the driverside/frontmost vent goes up to the cleaner. Can't imagine it makes much difference though. I definitely agree that some sort of gasket is missing between the cap and the valve cover, so it looks like my first step is to order that, perhaps a new tube, and the grommet/filter element/elbow joint for the air cleaner before I try a whole new cap.
Thanks again folks
