Why Do I Have a Keypad?

When I ordered my XLT I wanted fog lights and an entry keypad but didn’t want to pay for an entire package to get them. The Value Package was the cheapest way but it was $1600 and it had more stuff I didn’t want so I passed and decided I’d put the two items in later for less $$. So my truck showed up and it has the keypad. I checked the order guide and it’s not standard until you get to the Lariat and I don’t see it listed anywhere in the options other than the Value Package or the Premium Package, neither of which are on my truck. So maybe the keypad was included with some other option I ordered; Sync 3, 40/console/40 seats, Powerscope Mirrors, Upfitter Switches? It’s just not listed anywhere on my window sticker so I’m scratching my head a bit. I use the heck out of that keypad on my old truck so it’s a nice surprise to have one on the new truck but it’s just one of those things that makes me go hmmmmm. Anybody know how I managed to get it?

Maybe that's why they stopped doing the drain plug transmission pan to give these away. Sorry I have no insight just a smart *** remark. Lucky you! I love the keypad too because I can access the truck without keys or lock my key in truck when I go riding (snowmobiling, biking) so I don't lose them. Enjoy your little bonus!

Maybe you’re onto something. Or maybe they knew I was torqued about not getting a back seat arm rest when my old XLT had one!

Yeah! What is the sense in having two different style back seats? One with an arm rest and one without. I don’t see the sense in it, there can’t be much of a cost difference. Just have cloth vs. leather. I guess people that ride in the back of a XLT or XL don’t deserve an arm rest...

Korean cars are all the same. Every single Sonata I've ever seen was fully loaded and the same. Economy of scale. But the Korean companies make all the parts themselves.

Much of Ford's parts are made by outside companies. So it costs Ford nothing to offer 100,000 different variations. It's the Vendors and UPS's problem.

Do you mind posting your window sticker? It may help us determine how that option go on your truck. I have to agree, a pleasant surprise indeed.

It says keyless entry on the standard equipment list. Idk maybe that now includes a keypad. 🤷🏻*♂️

I definitely have keyless entry with the fob but the SecuriCode keypad is specifically listed as standard on the Lariat, not the XLT. Not complaining, I’m glad it’s there, just didn’t expect it. I checked it and it even works too!

^^^^^^^^^^ That would be my thoughts also. None of your options have anything to do with a keypad. Glad to hear it, it means the days of locking your keys/fob in the truck are over
