The 5" exhaust system that was on my truck when I got it sounded pretty cool running around empty. Now that I've gotten older and tow more it has gotten annoying. All the straight through performance mufflers not only cost nearly as much as a new system, they have a 4" core. I did some measuring and some shopping and got a Walker BTM.

 

I started at joint already there and cut 36" of pipe out.

 

I'm going to need a muffler soon. After you install it post your thoughts about it.

 

I took a wire wheel and dressed the ends of the pipe and applied never seize to both the pipe and inside the muffler.

 

Then I slipped this bad boy in place and clamped it using band style clamps for a tight seal without crushing the pipe.

 

From outside it still sounds good but made a world of difference inside. People in the back seat don't have to yell anymore. I'll try to post a sound clip tomorrow.
