Tailgate

Tailgate
I was in a minor accident. I was stopped at a light and a Jeep hit my bumper and bent it just enough to scratch the paint on the rear quarter panel. When it was in the body shop for some reason they removed the tailgate. Now when I open the tailgate the cable on the right side doesn't have any tension, and if I put weight on it it makes a loud click from the left hinge area. The shop removed and reinstalled the tailgate, simple enough and no adjustments but same results.
The tailgate worked perfectly before and after the accident until it went into the shop. The shop says it's fine I want it right. Anyone have any ideas?

The damage was minor, bumper corner bent enough to scratch the quarter panel. I don't even know why they removed the tailgate. As far as I know nothing was bent or realigned. It just seems they put the tailgate in wrong but I don't see how that is possible. I have an arm injury so I need to get someone to help me pull it off and reinstall it. Thanks
