BW 1345 Transfer Case Rebuild
#2
Hey, I'm a fellow newbie on a quest to rebuild the same t-case for my 1986 F350. I found the manual here:
https://broncograveyard.com/rt-1277-...p-manuals.html
and pulled a junkyard t-case for parts. I've yet to really dig into the rebuild, but I'd be happy to swap info here.

there is greater complication in brushing your teeth than there is in rebuilding these chain drive cases.
the 1345 is a fine case for normal power . i really like the output shaft yoke.
if your 400+ horsepower, the 1345 will hold up in 2wd
but the 4407 from the late nineties is a much stronger case, in every way comparable to the overpriced 271 series

BW 1356 came along after the 1345 in 87/88 . it has the slip yoke output. a very good case virtually identiacal in all practical design parameters to the 1345. roughly the same low range and chain size etc.
a totally different design but the parameters are similar.
the pump locking plate can be "pinned" tokeep it from walking and wearing the case , causing a pin hole leak.
it happens on very high mile units but not to the degree that is so common on the newer 271 new venture cases.
the 1356 is no great improvement over the 1345 if a swap is being considered
the tonners and plow trk had a pto plate . that is the only added value to the 1356.
your big gain in swap will be the 4407 but only if your pulling or mud or whatever where massive big block torque is being pushed through the front drive train.

Can someone identify this bearing? I ordered 2 rebuild kits but it is not included in either of the kits I got. As you can see at the upper portion, all the material melted out the top. We used to call it a "spun" bearing when it looked like this with the connecting rods....do "we" still use that term?.

ajzpop, is it 7120 in the above diagranm? My AllData calls that part "Input Shaft, Outer Bushing", OEM part no "EOTZ 7120B". Appears to be part of this kit:

Or this part matches description, though not the OEM part number:

Yeah, these are the people I had been dealing with. They are the ones who told me it is no longer available. They were very helpful and eager to help.

So Brad @ Drive Line and Gear called me back telling me that he had discussed my part issue with a friend and it turns out that he had a spare part that he would sell me. If anybody needs any parts for xfer cases or transmissions, check them out!!!
