Towed A Semi Tuesday!

Towed A Semi Tuesday!
I was pumping fuel in Twin Falls, ID when a trucker approached my family at our truck and explained that his semi had run out of fuel about 100 or so yards short of the pump and was wondering if I had a chain and if I could give him a pull up to the pump. My wife, always willing to help, barks up, "yes." A tear started to form in my eye thinking about my new 450 pulling that 100,000,000,000 pound truck and the damage it was going to do, but I thought I could at least look at his rig before I cried out loud.
It turned out that it was a full size semi, but it was running empty, so it was only about 40k lbs or so. Yay. I always pack for emergencies. I took out my rope and shackle (listed below).

I hooked up my end. He hooked up his. As it turned out, we were attracting quite a crowd by now. He told me he would honk when he wanted me to stop, so I started nice and slow. To his amazement, the truck didn't break a sweat. I think he is now a Ford believer.
The bad part is my wife didn't think to videotape any of this whole mess she volunteered me for!

That's a cool story, but 40k is not really stretching the 450's towing abilities much in reality, and there is no tongue weight.
There was a Raptor that pulled out a stuck semi on an episode of Ice Road Truckers, and there are several videos of the same on youtube. Just think...if a Toyota Tundra can pull the space shuttle, and a VW Touareg can pull a 747...surely a 450 can pull a semi.
Nevertheless, I bet it was a cool thing to do! Thanks for sharing.

This past week we used my "Superstrap" and my buddy's F-350 DRW to pull a Class A single axle motor home out of the mud at a campground.
First time I used this style strap and it worked perfect. One end around the Class A's receiver hitch and the other around the front bumper tow hook.

Great job!
Yep, Pulling a Semi is actually quite easy. I pulled a fully loaded semi out of a nasty rut he got stuck in with my 2011 F250. I pulled a fully loaded tanker out of a muddy incline with my 2016 F450. I've yet to pull anything that big with my 2017 F450, but the day will come...and I'll be ready. I've personally volunteered for it EVERY FRIGGIN CHANCE I GET. I always come to the rescue of stranded folks whether it be cars, pickups, SEMIs or even a train (haven't done that last one yet).
