Watering my lawn to put out some embers. Yikes.

Since this is in the 2017 forum, I'll make it relevant with a poll... Should I be watering my lawn, or my F250?😬

Yup, they are evacuating the houses behind ours. We're under voluntary evacuation right now.

Be careful there Tricon. Don't count on being safe inside the cab. Aluminum melts at 1,221 degrees but the average forest fire burns at 1,471 degrees. It wouldn't be long until your sunroof gets a whole lot larger. ;0

Seriously, be safe and good luck.

Hahaha, would probably fair better than my wife's tin can SUV.

There's some dramatic photos in here:

My truck is covered in ash... Good thing I just spent all that time waxing it....

Best wishes to you and yours.
I do hope the wind is favorable for you and likewise that Calfire gets a quick line on it.

From Twitter Cal Fire

Corona is about 30 miles from we had the La tuna fire about a week ago about 5 miles from us, be sure to keep washing the cars, ash is caustic will eat the paint, when you can do a complete wash do it as soon as possible.

Seems like mother nature has something for us regardless of where we choose to live.
Fire is our challenge also, under voluntary evac here in Northern CA twice in the last 3 yrs.

We just returned from a 4800 mile ride focusing mostly on Utah and somewhat in CO, WY, and AZ.

The smoke in Utah was so dense we could taste it but interestingly most of that smoke was coming from 10 active fires in Montana.

Be safe one and all near the fire tonight.

Thanks for the well wishes! We have a large basin behind our house, if the wind stays down I'm hoping we'll be fine.

Have all the animals and important docs ready in a bug out bag.

Glad to see on TV that the worst is HOPEFULLY over for many of the homes in your area.

We're south of you near Yorba Linda and we don't smell any smoke as I understand it's moving to the East.

I hope you're all good and tomorrow is a much better day!

I moved to the OC from the SFV and we had numerous fires and a couple of mandatory evacuations. I learned from that experience to not leave because once you do they may keep you out for days until they're done with most everything.

I'll never evacuate again.
