Truck left us stranded! (Fuel leak)

2015 F350 6.7L, 43,000miles

My family and I were driving into West Virginia this morning when the reduced engine power message came up on the dash and the truck died. I coasted off to the side of the road as best I could and got out. Immediately I smell diesel fuel. I look under the truck and there is fuel all over the passengers side frame and when I keyed it back up fuel started spraying down by the right front wheel.

Pulled the fender liner back and saw a small rubber hose that looks like it came off of a tee fitting down by the egr componants. I tried to get it back on but wasn't able to get it seated 100% and when I tried to restart it blew off again.

Has anyone seen this before? Truck is completely stock and ran perfect right up until it died.

The truck is on its way to a Ford dealer near where we were, but hours away from home, but I'm very disappointed that this has happened. I bought this truck 3 weeks ago, coming from previous Toyota trucks because I wanted something more suited
to towing our travel trailer, it's still under warranty and I purchased a Ford extended plan as well, but I hope this isn't reflective of what I have to look forward to with Ford ownership.

Sounds like your return fuel line came apart. I would ask the Ford dealer if the fuel system has been worked on.

For what its worth, that line does not return fuel but rather supplies fuel to the hydraulic coupler area of the fuel injectors(between the upper and lower pistons). Seems to kind of be a “thing”. I found another case on YouTube. Not quite sure what the cause is although I have a theory...

I put a new Tee coupling on low pressure return, new line and new oteiker clamps. And it just blew it off again. The truck will run about 30 seconds before blowing the hose off. It doesn't appear to skip and engine revs normally, then pop, squirt, shut down. Redo!!! This was the third time in 3 days. Is the injector stuck open on #2? Its blowing the return loose on the down range side. I may have to purchase a factory complete return harness. I'm trying to do the repair with what they offer to fix one tee which is a new T a 12" section of pipe to cut and 4 oteiker clamps. It's not holding unless there is an underlying problem causing excessive pressure.

A tool like forscan will give you expected and actual fuel pressure as well as other info.

I dont have that, I figured since it was a visual leak and plastic at that then maybe replace and end of story. I should have known better because I thought 4 of the 6.0 hack in 2006, boy did I have a mess of repair bills on my hands.

Good luck with keeping parts. What I'm finding out is usually something else is to blame.
