Performance issues

Hey guys I have an 03 6.0 powerstroke my problem all started the other day when I started to occasionally not get any boost on acceleration and lose of power and a lot of vibration like it's about to cut out but it got worse now today I drove it about 5 miles into town when I got to town I noticed a rough idle I got gas in a gas can not in the truck lol I got back in to leave and I had absolutely no power at all the truck stalled out and it was very hard to start finally got it started and it runs really rough almost like it's going to shut off so when I started driving I would only make it about a mile or so with out it chocking out and having to let it site for a minute or two and start it back up and go another mile or 2 and have it do the same thing all the way home all the time I have vary little boost if any at all except for when I first pull out now oil pressure is good and engine never over heated some of the codes I have is an EGR code and a contribution balance code for several cylinders I was thinking possibly a maf sensor or a clogged egr not working right I don't know please help what do you guys think? Thanks in advance

I see you fell through the cracks..... Well, where do we start? First 2 things and I am just guessing, you have no fuel pressure and the EGR valve is not working. You have a metric port on the upper fuel filter where you can thread in to attach a pressure gauge. When is the last time you replaced fuel filters and the EGR valve?

well I just replaced my lower filter. my upper filter i replaced back in April now I did clean the EGR valve but I how can I tail it's not working? Also I've done some more sniffing around and discovered that right after cranking to try to start there is no fuel in the upper bowl so I am thinking probably bad fuel pump there right?

If you have no fuel pressure, forget the contribution codes. First things first. Has this been an ongoing issue or did it start after the fuel filter change?

it started last week with a loss of power no boost at times and a lot of shaking like it was getting ready to shut off because of lack of fuel mainly on the interstate and while pulling long hills so I changed the filters thinking they were severely clogged but it got so bad to the point now wear it won't even start

Sounds like fuel pump in frame, warmer it gets, worse it will get,it can show fuel in bowl but no enough pressure to run the truck down the road.

see that's exactly what I was thinking you just confirmed it. what gave it away for me was that there was no fuel except for a little puddle at the bottom of the upper fuel bowl

take filter out, turn key on,see how long it takes to fill and watch for bubbles at same time.If you test anything it needs to be warm or after pumps run awhile to get it warmed,a cold pump can do ok or last long enough to get you away from house.

well the only trouble with warming it up is the truck won't start at all right now so I'm assuming the pump is probably toast I ordered a new pump last week just waiting for it to get hear I'll find out once I put it in

Sometimes its a good choice to get some stuff from oreilleys, advance, auto zone because you have your local warranty plus on the road at any there stores,no waiting to mail it back and forth while trucks down.
