1997 F350 Dually 4x4 5-Speed Build

Hey guys.

My posts in the past talked about doing the conversion and how to do it. Sense it was Thanksgiving weekend I decided to order all the parts a week before so I can have them in by Thanksgiving so I can work on the conversion.

My truck:
1997 F350 DRW CCLB 7.3L Auto Michelin 215/85r16

Donor truck:
1996 F350 SRW CCLB 7.3L Man BF Goodrich KO 285/75r16

Parts from door truck:
D60 front axle, boxed portion of the frame, leaf spring brackets, torsion bar mount, BF Goodrich KO 285/75r16 tires, transferase, driveshafts front and rear, 4" rear leaf blocks, longer rear anti sway bar, etc mis. parts.

Parts bought:
Leaf springs from scrap yard

Reverse shackle kit

Plan:
Take apart leaf springs that were bought at a scrap yard
Paint leaf spring parts
Paint D60 axle
Paint reverse shackle kit
Reassemble leaf springs
Box in front end
Install reverse shackle kit
Attach leaf springs
Attach axle
Install transmission and transferase
Attach driveshafts
TEST DRIVE!

Progress:
Ordered all parts needed online
Reverse shackle kit
ZF5 rear extension housing
ZF5 seal kit
Went to scrap yard and bought leaf springs
Donor trucks looked like "W"'s but has good bushings
Took apart leaf springs
Painted (primer) leaf springs
Work on removing good bushings from old leafs while paint (primer) dries
Cut seam welds and removed rivets (holding boxed end and radiator mount) holding in boxed parts
Second coat of primer
Removed bumper seam weld from dually
Removed rivets holding radiator mount
Had a buddy seam weld box front end
First coat of black paint
Painted pitman arm and new reverse shackles
Had a buddy trade me my old POS steps for his steps. They go from front tire to back tire. They are also quick release sort of steps if ground clearance is needed.

Black Friday weekend/week:
I ordered
PHP Hydra Chip
MaxTow Gauges
Air Filter
3" Downpipe

Pictures to come

You California boys are spoiled, that donor looks like something I'd like to have and drive.

Do you have a 4x4 main shaft for your trans?

That donor truck has a bent frame now with a broken bed and such. when i go 25mph i got a death wobble with new ball joints and bushings. Those pictures are before a crash that caused to truck to become a donor truck.

He didn't put it in the list of parts he's taking from the donor truck, but I'm pretty sure he's using the 5 speed manual out of the 4WD donor truck, not the automatic from the 2WD dually the parts are going on.

The ZF5 is whats being used. It'd be easier to repair then the E40D. And I do have front and read driveshafts.

Yesterday I installed my new steps. It makes my truck look so much better. Today I'm going to attach the front bumper and if I have time fix the rear bumper (which is sagging down and someone messed some wiring)

Today I took off all the brackets and mounts that hold up the 2wd front end. Tomorrow will be installation of the reverse shackle and D60 axle.
Still debating on tires. Front will have 3.5" over stock (2" reverse shackle and 1.5" leaf block". Im looking at: 235/85r16 (32"x9") BFGoodrich all-terrain KO2, 255/85r16 w/spacer (33"x10") BFGoodrich Mud Terrain MT2, or 285/75r16 (I know same hight as 255 but wider) TreadRight any of them. I need to get the best all around tire because my buddy just qualified int he 1400 linked class and I will be his rescue rig in the future.
Any suggestions?

Started the removal

2wd is out.
