Everything looks pretty much ok. There was a bit of string? in the trans as I pulled it apart. Couldn't get a pic cause my hands were greasy, but it looked like about 12 inches or so of string. Maybe a bit less.
Anywho here's the pics. Theres a couple of the little gears thingies which I gotta get open to replance them. then I have the other gears pieces that look like they've ground away at the top part of it. For refrence, I took a pic of the one next to it. It's the only one like that.
An idiot used string to hold parts together when installing them. String is the absolute WORST thing one can use because it doesn't break down when coming in contact with moving parts, can jam things up.
People in the know use rubber bands because they disintegrate when coming in contact with moving parts.
The gears you are speaking of were only furnished by Ford with the assembly. I have no idea where you can buy them...maybe a trans shop.
Here's a couple more pics. Pulled aprt that spare trans I got a while back. Here's what the clutchpask looks like. Next to the one that came from ym transmission. The one from the truck is on the right in both photos. My question was, can I use this one in my truck? Just looking to save some cash (a bit strapped for it, low hours). I noticed the top area is slightly more edged back, or beveled? back. You'll see what I mean. It has an incline more than the other does. The Spare has an incline, but not nearly like the other..
Got everythign cleaned up, and some stuff put back together. Pretty sure it's all done right. I've been following the book very closely, and taking each step sllowly, making sure I don't miss anyhting. So next step is this. I gotta put the low reverse clutch drum in. Problem is, the pic shows a ring? in the center of the drum, but doesn't which one it is. Nor does it say in the disassembly section.
Photos:
My truck threw up in my living room.
Low-reverse clutch drum.
Do one of these rings go there?
Rebuilt gears.
Thats what came out fo both gear sets.
And two more shots of the rings. Just looking to see if ya'all know the right one.
