EMission cutoff

Hi all, what is the emission cutoff year for vehicles here in Connecticut? Gettting an 88 F350 and there is no way this thing would pass emssions!! With a 460 and it being the first yr for fuel injection, there is 1000 vacumn lines all over the engine compartment!!
Thanks
Rich

I believe the cutoffs are 25 years or 10,000+ GVWR

yup 25 yrs or over 10000#,my 87 only has to pass once more before being exempt. (btw she passed better than some newer vehicles that ive seen)
trick was to take in when really cold out

Yepper!

If you want to read the answer as posted by DMV then go to CT Emissions Program - FAQs - Testing and scroll down to 'What vehicles need to be tested?'

There the link CT Emissions Program - When Do I Get Tested - Exempt Vehicles gives the answer:
"A motor vehicle twenty five-years old or older, (R.C.S.A 14-164c-2a "twenty-five or more years ago" shall mean the number of years arrived at by subtracting the model year of the motor vehicle seeking the exemption from the current calendar year). "

And now I know why the emission testing place didn't connect into my ODBII port.

CT Emissions Program - What Should I Know About the Test - Tests for Diesel-Powered Vehicles

"Diesel vehicles that are model year 1997 and newer AND under 8,501 lbs. will receive an on-board computer diagnostic test.

Diesel vehicles under 8,501 lbs. and 1996 and older will receive a dynamometer test if they operate in two-wheel drive and are non-traction controlled. A modified test will be used if the vehicle is four-wheel drive and has non-disengageable traction control.

These diesel tests use an opacity meter to measure the density of smoke from a vehicle's tailpipe. The darker the smoke, the more it is polluting and the higher its opacity reading will be."

Don't quote me here, but I also believe they are testing for emmissions specific to your vehicle. Its not like they expect an 88 F350 with a 460 to be putting out the same as a 2010 Prius.
