Front End Maintenace/Upgrades

Getting ready for the summer vacation figured it was time to do some front end work.

I looked at the front sway bar and its definately time to replace the links and bushings...
What links & bushings to use?
Or should I just replace the whole thing with a Hellwig kit?
Ball joints
Never done them - is it hard? Or should I get a pro to do it?
What else?

Do you have both front and rear sway bars?

If you do make sure you replace both ends with poly.

This thread describes the ball joints in fantastic detail complete with pictures (follow the links inbeded in the text), including the tool you can make from iron pipe to press the seal on. I got the complete kit with all seals and Moog ball joints from Your Premiere Source for Ford Truck Parts | Powerstrokeshop.com (search the common part catalog for "ball joint kit").

A word of caution, if you live in the rust belt, be prepared for corrosion issues. I had to grind the nuts off of the upper ball joints and I broke a puller trying to get the hub off one side because there was a lot of corrosion on the 4 hub bolts.

Amen to that. I ended up having to cut a couple hub bolts to get mine off. Gonna use a lot of anti-seize & new hub bolts when I replace the hubs this year.

Well, part one is DONE!

I changd out the front sway bar links and bushings. I went with Moog for no other reason than I got a good price from RockAuto and the link arms have greese fittings.

Here's what the old ones looked like...

I would say they were beyond needing to be replaced
