Wanna see something that will make you laugh your A$$ off Denny?
When I put the side vent door on my 51 to provide fresh air for the heater (because the duct was taken out with the full front tilt) I made my own "box" duct.
See if you can top this - it took me half a day to cut this out of a Bisquick Box and get it to fit inside the kick panel area! I fiberglassed it and stuck it in - OYE!
Nice thing about the outside door I'm finding out this winter, is I get just the right amount of ram air in it to maintain a warm cab temp or the windshield defrosted without running the blower motor.

Julie , I am impressed and I usually only do that to myself . See pics of woodworking projects in gallery & albums . Put the kick panel on & you are good to go . No one will ever see what is behind it .If it works don't fix it . Think I have a solution to the boot for a '48-'50 .We might include it in the tech articles on heaters , fresh air tubes , boots ( got that covered ) and motors .Just for you am going to disassemble the 1ST-RIDE heater ,check motor # and see if it works . Might spin the wrong direction . Will find out soon .I'll bet your Dad would have been proud of your engineering on your duct work .I still like your vent system . Pretty cool !! and we can not forget the side pipes . Mine came off a show van back in the day when I toured the World of Wheels .Will try to post a pic of the machine also . 1974 Dodge short wheel base van ,awesome irredecent orange , gold pearl , w/ candy apple tangerine flames , 1970 bal./ blueprinted 340 /400 H.P. with 26 yds. of crushed orange daimond tuck (1380 bottons ) upholstery interior .Lots of chrome and detail. 12 V. heater motor
Took the motor/fan case off the 1ST-RIDE Magic Air heater tonight to check the 12 V. motor .It does have the correct rotation . The motor shaft extends 5/8 of an inch from the motor .No part # visible .It could be on the motor face but the Magic Air badge is not going to handle another detachment . From what I gather it is SVF part # 8301-CW ( clock wise ) Am going to try to post a pic of it . If the correct size pic does not load 51panelman will let me know .Also poured another '52 heaetr boot while I was out in the shop .Hear goes .

Very good topic it was 9 degrees here this morning! I have just reviewed a Modine radiator/heater catalog and found what might be a near direct drop in replacement heater core. From the illustration, it appears that the outlets are very close to being in the proper location.
The heater core measures 8" x 7 7/8" x 2" I know it's just a little larger but think it might work.
The catalog lists it as part# 4R702356, it's application is for a '85-'87
Ford Econoline van (E100/350) with front heat and Factory AC.
Also, there are five different Ford part numbers listed for this core:
D5UZ-18476-AA (no such part number) / D5UZ-18476-C / D5VA-18476-AA (1975/79 Lincoln ID number, not a part number *) / E3UZ-18476-C, and E6UZ-18476-A
I also found the NAPA part number: NHC6603137. I hope this information might help.
I DO NOT have one of these cores so I am just speculating that it might work.

Some Econolines have two heaters, two A/C's. The E6UZ18476A (E3UZ-C & D5UZ-C) heater core fits into the dash mounted evaporator case (A/C/Heater plenum chamber).
* D3VY18476A replaced by D5VY18476A replaced by E3AZ18476A .. Heater Core
Fits: 1973/89 Lincoln Town Car / 1973/91 LTD/Crown/Vic/Mercury Grand Marquis and etc.
Does not fit an Econoline!

I've got the kick panel on and even found the right center hole for the speaker below the duct box - so it all fit together. That's why I'm a little nervous about taking it apart - it'll probably explode or something!
I was wondering if the motor turned the right direction. The only motor I found that fit turned the wrong direction. And we can't have a heater that sucks instead of blows now can we.
So it looks like everything having to do with this motor should be right. I think I'll call SVF and buy one.

If you are refering to the 1956 12V blower motor, there were TWO different types.
B6A18527B .. Heater Blower Motor / Rotation: C/CW
Fits: All 1956 Trucks except P Series Parcel Delivery.

There were two different heater cores for 1952 trucks.
2C18476A .. Heater Core / Use with Fresh Air Heater / Obsolete
Fits: 1952.
No Ford Dealer or obsolete parts vendor has any.

Fits: 1952/53.

Someone suggested an Econoline heater core. I don't have a clue whether it will work...or not.
I typed the correct Ford part number and the applications in post #34.
btw: You are prolly aware, but some others may not be: Radiators shops can recore heater cores.

Yep we seem to be getting a lot of "No Ford Dealer, no other obsolete parts vendor has any!" Butjust on the 52 Magic Air core. I found one to fit the 51. You wouldn't know why they changed the outlet on the 52 heater core would you?
I knew the Radiator shops would do it, but the OP doesn't have a shop available.
Besides, it hasn't gotten much attention in the past so the Masgic Air stuff seems to have turned into a science project with a lot of good info coming out - or at least putting it al together.

How can those new production heater ducts be purchased ? I have a '51 F1 with "Magic Air" and my friend has a '52 F6 under restoration.
I would need one for sure, we are investigating what kind of heater is there in the F6. Did those big models have different kind of heater ? What did the recirculating heater look like ?

Fresh air ducts and tubes
Everyone needs to go to Denny's school of patience . If any one has nothing to do for a few weeks ( a month ) and would like to donate thier time and $$ keeping the house & shop running I probably would have those and the e-brake cable boots reproed .
These things take time .My buddy who helps me out with these and other one off items works at Pratt & Whitney where they have way cool materials & tooling .With out him these items will take way much longer to materialize .
Have another set of tubes and the duct on the way .These are from a "52 so will be able to see how much difference in repro of these will be . Stay tuned .

Thanks for excellent information and pictures, this helps a lot. For the new parts, no problem in waiting. Good luck with your initiative.
My friends '52 F6 is manufactured (assembled ?) in Belgium so it might be that some parts are different from US trucks. I will get a picture of the heater soon and I'll try post it here. He said that it has 2 fan blades that the same heater motor is spinning. Is that the same kind of structure as in the recirculating heaters ? Can a replacement 6 volt motor be found or is it the same motor as Magic Air ?
