Still having oil cooler problems.
Still having oil cooler problems.
Does anyone have an exploded view or rebuild instructions for the oil coolers that they can email me? It still suddenly has extremely high oil pressure and blows the seal to the oil filter. Also if someone reassemble one of these, could they have gotten the ends twisted alittle so that the gasket surfaces wheren't in the same plane, causing the gasket surfaces to leak? Thank you for any info.
I don't have an exploded view I can email.
I don't even have any pictures I can show you right now.
If you look at the block mating surface of the rear cooler header there is a hole about 5/8" in diameter.
Down inside the hole is what looks like a flat washer with a spring below it.
That is the oil pressure regulator.
Let me walk up to the garage, I found my extra oil cooler this weekend.
I will take a coupe pictures and post back in a little bit.

Both are staked into the header adapter.
If you press on the disc in the center of the washer on the filter restriction bypass, it should move down with rather light pressure, couple pounds at best.
I have to wonder if you have something in one or both that is blocking the oil flow.
If you installed the headers not in the same plane, as soon as you bolt it on the engine they would rotate parallel from the bolt pressure.
I could actually turn mine by hand right after I put it together.

Hey, thanks guys. All of that is certinly a place to start. As for the filter restriction by pass, I know mine moves down like you said it should. As for the regulator, is that supposed to move or be adjustable,or anyting (mine is still on the truck for the moment so I don't know what it is or isn't doing)? But that is good news about the mounting surfaces, I can't turn mine by hand though.
They have that flat washer staked in there good.
I have a junk rear header that I tried to get the spring out of to adjust for a bit more oil pressure.
So far, the spring is still in the header.

Hey, I know this has been awhile for this thread but it makes more sense to contiue this one. Does anyone know how to take a part the oil pressure regualator and put it back togther with out extra peices? I just got my cooler of yesterday and that was stuck, I had to tap it with a nut driver and hammer, which explains why I keep inflating oil filters.
