Droped truck off at dealer, bad ICP sensor. First, what is an ICP sensor, and second, he said it needs an updated connector, the old one is obsolete, anyone know anything about that? Third should I have them do it, or is it a fairly easy job that I could do myself. I told him I would call him back to let him know. So not only do I need advice, I need it kind of quickly. Thanks you for your support.
I cannot answer but I can give you a bump. This is definitely something you could do yourself. Are you sure that it is bad? What symptoms are you having?
You can replace it yourself in probably 10 minutes or less I'd guess.
Obsolete connector? Unless its damaged I'd leave it alone.
Thank him for what he did, take the truck home and buy an ICP off Ebay and replace it yourself.
It means the ICP is going bad, not the connector. Check and make sure the wires for the connector are not melted or corroded (back to the wiring harness where you cannot see them anymore). You should spray out the connector (I used a electrical connector spray from the auto store), let it dry, and use dielectric grease on the rubber fins out OUTSIDE of the connector.
You will want a 1-1/8" socket (I think, it may be a 1") to pull the ICP Sensor out. It is VERY easy, more time to get your tools out than to do the switch. Mine was bad, lots of problems. When is your SES light on?
My SES light comes on as soon as the ignition switch is turned on and then goes off after a few minutes of operation and stays off.
I guess it should be obvious, but... May I ask where the ICP is located, and confirm that there is only one?
I just ordered one off EBay, I'm a little nervous about the wiring harness, because the dealer told me the old one is obsolete. Do you think that's code for "we want more of your money"?
THANKS Clint, for the link!!!

Front of the driver's side head, right behind the alt. 3 wire plug connected to it.
Yes, I think "obsolete" means "let me bend you over" in some foreign language.

I agree. The only thing harness wise I can see them even talking about would be the UVCH and thats just a retaining clip deal.
Thanks Chase, big help. I sure am gratefull, if it wasn't for the help I got from all here I would be having that foreign word done to me right now ;-).

Unless the connector is damaged, I would agree.
Maybe ask the tech if he's going to offer this with the purchase of a new plug to replace the "obsolete" one:
I wonder how much money this site has collectively helped save from dealers?! I know all that money saved was eventually spent on PMS but whatever...just a thought. 380 bucks in this one thread alone...
