Steering Stabalizers

Started a thread a week ago about the comfort of my vehicle (08 F250 5.4L 4x4) and I have come to a conclusion...

It's not really the ride that bothers me as much as the steering wheel wanting to jar back and forth on the bumps---will a dual steering stablizer take that bump-induced play out of the wheel? How efficient are those dual setups at reducing what you feel in the steering wheel when you hit some rough patches of road? Lastely, what brand do you recommend I look at for a self install?

Thanks for any input...

cjtaylor0103,

Welcome to FTE! Great place to learn more about your rig and meet some great people.
I was getting vibration in my truck and went to a Rough Country steering stabilizer. it is a single but it took care of the problem. With an 08, my first thought would be to let the dealer check it out since it is in warranty.

Good luck

i just got a dual BDS kit, however i am not satisfied with the ride. I am fairly new to trucks and have never experienced stabilizers before, but the steering seems to be less predicable, almost as if it had a mind of its own. Also with the dual get the steering seems sort of elastic, is this normal? Could it be due to the fact that the two stabilizers pull on one another?

Sounds more like a bad install to me. Mine does not do a push pull. Rather there is more resistance over bumps and things.

When I turn the wheel it acts as normal

Really? Any change in grade seems to induce a pull and when i go to compensate there is then a pull in the other direction, it is very odd. Yet cornering and major bumps don't seem to affect anything.

I have a single stabilizer in the front. Mine is a KBY. It replaced the Ford one in the front. I have not had any problems with it. The Ford one was decent from the start, but then once the seal went, so did my steering. I think the dual stabilizers are more for lifted trucks with oversized tires than stock suspensions with stock or slightly oversized tires. (I have slightly oversized tires on my truck)
