Scanner question

On my predator under diesel fuel settings there is a place that shows 12345678 cylinders and a percentage after each one as it is running. Anyone know what this is for? Reason I bring it up is after some other issues today I was playing around and found a couple of the cylinders to be around 4-5% while the rest where at 0.0%. This seems like maybe bad injectors/ wiring harness?

Yep,

that is your cylinder contribution (rotational velocity) check on each cylinder. I bought the Predator before buying a T Wildman Chip.

Basically anything over 4% is showing signs of weakness. 2-3% isn't too bad a reading, #8 ussually shows 3-4% unless you install a regulated return. How many miles on the injectors?

all mine always read 0 am i doing it right? i just look at it goin down the road

need to do it at idle when the engine is at normal operating temp. It will read all zero's when the RPM's are higher.

If some of the cylinders are reaching 5% I would consider finding someone with Auto Enginuity or take it to a shop and have a cylinder contribution test done to see if any of the injectors fail the test. Only takes about 5 minutes to run the test.....

I was at idle, all warmed up. It was number 8 showing 5% but fluctuating, and number 3 showing around 3-4%. I have 150,000 on these injectors, with number 8 being replaced about 30,000 ago. Maybe time to pull out number 3?

cool deal, and much less expensive & time consuming than swappin' injectors. Glad it worked out for you.......

I'm pretty happy thats all it was. I would have never known if not for this site and the great knowledge around here. I did have to rev it up around 2500 before it set the cel if that matters. Normal town driving did not set it off. I had to get on it a bit. Also, my cylinders are all running at 0.0% now. What a difference. SO what's the new deal with the CPS? Are we going back in black again? Glad I never did the blue one.


I'm posting this here as well since it has come up in a couple of threads. This way if someone does a search they wont be dead ended. I know I really need to work on reporting back so others can benefit. I'm sure I'm not the only one!
