IDI turbo IP vs. NA IP

Talked to my local diesel shop about a new turbo injection pump and turbo injectors. As you know many websites out there charge a little extra for a turbo pump but this shop sells them turbo or not for $425 exchange. When I asked them about the difference (also whether they would take my NA pump in exhance for the turbo pump), they told me that all the pumps are the same internally but the turbo pump is just turned up from the factory. Is this the case? If so I'm gonna shop for a better price...Thanks for the imput.

Turbo pumps put out more fuel and the timing curve should be a little different.

So all the internal parts are the same, and the only difference is the fuel and timing map??

I think that the 7.3 injector pumps have bigger diameter High Pressure plungers, also the turbo pumps (93 up) had an extra adjustment screw on the back of the pump that is a max fuel stop for the metering valve arm on the governor. Allows for easier max fuel adjustments for the turbo application rather than pulling the side cover off the IP to get at the max piston travel screw.

DB2-5013 - 1992-1994 manual tranny
DB2-5028 - 1992 -1994 auto tranny
DB2-5069 - 1993 -1994 turbo auto tranny
DB2-5070 - 1993 - 1994 turbo manual tranny

All of these injection pumps should have the external fuel adjustment screw.

I have just removed a bad DB2-5028 IP from my 1994 F250 7.0 E4OD automatic - apparently it was adapted over to fit /

What is actual the difference between the DB2-5028 and DB2-5013 (fittings or what did they do to adapt it over to use in place of the DB2-5013)?

Thanks

The DB2- 5028 is the right pump for a 92.5 thru 94 NA 7.3 with an automatic tranny.
I think the only difference has something to do with the FILP to control the automatic tranny.

It has been a while since I saw one of each setting side by side, but I seem to remember something a bit different where the FILP sits.

Anyone have pictures of that pump with the external fuel adjustment screw?

Perhaps it's an easy upgrade?

Look at the bottom of the h in fuel shut off solenoid.

The h is sort of wrapped around the external adjustment.

Sorry the picture is not a very good view of the screw.
I have been meaning to take a better picture, but the air cleaner housing has to come off to see it.
Not enough hours in a day for me right now, so that is on a back burner for a while.

Since the screw goes to the governor, it would not be an easy mod.

Would you by any chance know which one of those pumps would work on my 87 6.9? I know I'm going to be changing it in the future as it leaks out of the advance plunger on the bottom and the external fuel adjustment would be a nice feature to have. I hate pulling the cover on the front to make sure the screw is at the opening and then pulling the cover plate off the side of the pump to turn it up.

The 5028 or 5013 would be the closest for a NA engine.
28 for an auto
13 for a manual

I should have given more info when I asked. My 87 has a Hypermax pulse turbo on it . I took your advice and wrapped both feed pipes and the outlet pipe with heat wrap to build more boost and prevent a repeat of a hole melting in my bellhousing. I think the massive overheat happened when the block heater came out and I lost all my coolant.
