Will Ford be following GM's 100,000 mile powertrain warranty?

I think it's a 5 year/100,000 warranty. Hyundai, Kia and I think Suzuki has the 10 year/100,000 warranty.
A long warranty is used when the public has the perception that the product is not durable. That's why you don't see Honda or Toyota extending theirs (yet).

it doesn't cost the company much either. Note all those "lifetime warranty" starters and alternators at the auto parts store.

Extended Warranty
It's very unlikely that Ford will go to 100k. Ford did lead the pack with a "bold move" by increasing the coverage to 5/60. Be careful with the Kia warranty, as I recall it is non-transferable to the next owners.

The extended warranty is great, but what they don't tell you is that you have to have the dealer change the engine oil, service the tranny, and they have a regular mant. schedule that you have to keep or the warr. is void.
