Have a 2002 F350 Dually that I tow a fifth wheel with. Fuel milage is and has been terrible on the tow....8 - 10 mpg, depending on terrain and wind. I'd like to get a couple more miles per gallon. Been considering the Banks upgrade products. However, others have told me that they get significant power increases but NO MILAGE INCREASE.
My Question: Does anybody have any proven way(s) or products to increase both power and fuel milage????

well you won't like this but my proven method of better mileage is to never go above 65 MPH. i went from 14 to 16 or 17 MPG instantly. this is caculate by hand with about 7 full ups. my mileage has never been below 16 and i nearly gor 18 on the last fill up. i still let ur rip off the corners and let my striaght pipe sing but once i hit 65 it cruising time. its hard on the highway but the gain is worth it to this 25 year old.
by the way my mods generally don't get better mileage because i can't keep my right foot out of the throttle.
Only thing I can add is to clean up the aerodynamics of the truck trailer set up. next time you are in a rain shower or go through a puddle, see how much spray you are swirling around behind you. Less is better. As far as I can see, Hp & torque are adequate enough for the task, so dragging a big box behind you is the culprit for the poor mileage, however it doesn't seem all that bad to me.
Are you sure you are getting this low? My dually has the mpg guage and it is always WRONG. Most of the time my truck is getting better fuel economy by about 15-20 percent than the guage says. Normally it seems stuck at 11.8 MPG when towing. But after figuring it out by hand it is more like 13.5-14.8 MPG depending on the terrain.
I get about 10-12 when towing the 5ther, weighs in somewhere in between 10K-12K, with a walkover bed up front, so it is tall. Anyway, like said, usually get between 10 and 12 depending on which direction the wind is going. Also, for the most part, I never go over 65 towing. Seems at 55 I get the best, but that is just scary on the interstate.
How does switching the CPS change the mileage you're getting and the way the truck is running? Just doesn't make sense to me.
Well, for starters, I'm sure we can all agree that the stock CPS is garbage! They have a lifespan of anywhere between 1000 and 200,000 miles. We have seen reports of people getting better mileage and performance just by replacing their stock unit with a new stock unit. The CPS for the DT466 is quite a bit different from the one Ford uses. According to International it provides a more consistent stronger signal and reduces the radio noise that apparently is a problem with the stock CPS. I have a very noticably smoother, quieter, stronger truck that gets better mileage than before and the only mod I made at the time was the CPS. Everyone who has tried it has reported almost the exact same findings. My theory is that the cleaner signal from the blue DT CPS allows the timing of the engine from cylinder to cylinder to be more precise and this of course makes it smoother, quieter, stonger and more efficient because it is not fighting itself.
