Getting 'Jolene' ready for Cruisin' the Coast 2025 and wanted to finish up some things before the trip. Last year the factory fan kept acting up and would intermittently work. This year, I have swapped out every piece and could not get the issue resolved. So I started looking for a suitable aftermarket electric fan that would keep her cool, not tax the electrical system and most importantly not be too loud (I hate those cars that have loud fans or loud fuel pumps). I ran across a company that fit the ticket, Delta Performance Auto Group. Their 16 inch fan is rated at 3200 CFM at 22 amps and fits inside the CV shroud. It is a stand alone system and is complete when it ships to you. The controller is easy to program and this PWM fan keeps my truck cool running at only 60 percent. I mounted the controller on the core support upside down so that when I lean over I can read it easily.
I then was able to complete the Restomod Air install. A buddy of mine came over and we were able to get it blowing icy cold.
I then wanted to install the new dash bezel, but couldn't bring myself to cut up a new piece. I really only ever stream music or podcast when I drive this car, so I wanted something simple to replace the Alpine stereo I had previously installed. I found that Kicker makes a sweet little Bluetooth receiver with SUB output and control. This is the Kicker 51KBTR Bluetooth Receiver runs an Alpine S-A60M that powers the Kicker 48TCWRT122. It also has an output for the mids/highs and that feeds an Alpine S-A32F that run the Rockford Fosgate P152 door speakers. I used a piece of carbon fiber kydex to make a panel to mount the receiver to. When I have have more time to make it look good, I am going to make an amp rack out of the kydex.
I run spacers on the back and am glad I checked the torque on them as I had a broken stud on the spacer.
I had a custom EGR delete plate and plug machined to completely delete the EGR off of both manifolds. I had to remove the front tire on the driver side to get the exhaust plug installed, but it went in no problem.
This week I will change the oil and put it on the rack to nut and bolt the suspension before getting it cleaned up for the week. I will post pics when I get back from the trip. I do have more upgrades to add when I get back. I have a front big brake kit that uses the stock calipers and GT500 rotors to add, and some narrowed front control arms to install after CTC. The powder coater is backed up and could not get them done before the trip.
So what spacers are you using? I am running the "shim stack" spacers, they were on when I bough the truck but I think I want to change them out.
I was finally had a chance to get my narrowed control arms from Chassis Parts Online powdercoated. These things are badass. I cannot wait to get them installed. I hate that they arent going to be seen more, but they are coated to match my Outcast 4 link.
