Ky, nice that you are bringing your fathers truck back to life! It is apparent that you are not cutting any corners on getting that done. Great photo of your sister, you and the truck, ought to be a family treasure.
The 56 T-bird hub caps and wide whites caught me by surprise. My '54 came to me about 1979 sporting those same hub caps. I added the wide whites soon after and have since run them for the last 45 years. Thanks for showing your truck.
Thank you. Did not realize the hubcaps were from a T-Bird. Came with the Truck when my dad bought it from a fellow who went to SMCC (SantaMonicaCityCollege), rear window still has the decal, but a bit worn out. Truck also had a white and red cloth tanou cover. It was a really nice truck when he first brought it home.
Thank you. Did not realize the hubcaps were from a T-Bird.
The wheelcovers were actually period accessories offered by Ford and seen on many '56-'60 Ford pickups back in the day. I would try to keep the vintage wheelcovers, gives the truck the old school nostalgic look from back in the day. Modern wheels just don't have the same character. My dad bought a brand new '57 Fairlane, remember him saying it had a Thunderbird engine, thinking it was a 312, but unfortunately it was sold in '72.
I believe it to be the wheel cover used on regular Ford's of the day as well, not just Thunderbirds. It would have been a natural accessory to add to a dressed up pickup.
OK, I get my truck back next month and want to swap out the current nuts and bolts that attaches to the Front Fender. Anyone know where I can get new correct replacements?
Working on adjusting the stance. Using Posie Super Slides in the rear. I think it's about right in the rear now. Will get the front fenders on and see the overall.
