1956 F-100 Restoration

Hello fellow Ford truck enthusiasts,

I am new to Ohio and new to this forum. I stumbled on to this site and was hoping to find some advice. I grew up in southern California. At age 14 my father bought a 1956 F-100. We spent some time "working" on it together, but hired professionals to do a lot of the work. I invested 2 years of income from part time jobs and eventually it became my first vehicle at age 16 (in 2000). It was never a show car, but it was my first love. I grew up and bought more practical vehicle, but held on to it for sentimental reasons. I have since lived in 5 states- shipping it all the way. I am now in Cleveland and putting down roots. This truck has been in storage for over 15 years, the last few of which it has been exposed to the Cleveland weather. My 7 year old pretends to drive in it and I hope he can take it to high school when he turns 16.

I am hoping to restore it to its former glory. My plan is to do this in two stages. I first want to have it safe to drive for myself and my family. Phase two will be cosmetic (e.g. chrome, paint, interior, new bed, etc.). I am looking for any recommendations of folks that may be interested in this sort of work. I am in Chagrin Falls, but willing to travel a reasonable distance.

Thanks so much in advance and I am looking forward to make connections with other Ford lovers in the area.

Chris

By any chance were you recently in the Raleigh, NC area? A few months back there was a yellow '56 like the one in your avatar sitting inside the gate at a specialist truck/body retailer (I think) that up and moved away suddenly. I never got the chance to look at it closely but passed by it every day for a while

Hi Abe. No that wasn't me, I was in Phoenix prior to Ohio. But glad to hear others are going yellow!
