NEW MEMBER HERE WITH 96 F250 CREW CAB SHORT BED

First off wanted to say hello I'm a new Ford truck owner and I love it. I purchased my truck used from someone who got it from the auctions its a 96 F250 crew cab short bed in good shape with an unknown amount of miles. I really like the truck and I've been learning a few things here and there. Today I took on the task of replacing the radio and speakers since it had a beat up JVC deck and some Pyle speakers up front. after I swapped the deck and front speakers I went to tackle the rear speakers and when I took off the speaker grills in the c pillar area there were no speakers so I thought thats an easy fix I can go buy some new ones but then I realized theres no mounting brackets to put the speakers. If I used self tappers id end up drilling through the exterior of the truck. I thought that maybe this particular truck didn't come with rear speakers but theres speaker wires that go to both sides and are connected and the speaker grills are vented like you would see in a vehicle that had rear speakers. So my question to the pros on this site are there supposed to be some sort of bolt in mount to get the speakers to sit behind the grills? if so does anyone have any pictures of this area or the mounts. Thanks

I recommend that you document here whatever wires you tied into when installing your stereo. There have been complications with other installations.

I don't remember anything about the rear speakers I can relate to you. Sorry.

Glad you like your new truck. Congratulations.

I'm not too familiar with the crew cabs, but if it's anything like the regular cab then they actually screw into the back of the speaker grille.
Post up some pics if you can, we might be able to help more if we can see exactly what you have.

I've never had my C-pillars opened up, but I can tell you that the speakers in my truck ('97 F-250 crew cab short box) are there. So I'm sure you're right about where they go, but I can't help you with how. Could they attach to the plastic?

edit: Fastback types faster than I do

There are plastic interior panels that go inside the C pillars. They are the same in a crew cab as a regular cab

There are vented panels that are held to the c-pillar covers and the speakers attach to them from the back side

Your speakers will screw into the back of the speaker cover/grille that rla2005 posted.

Ahh ok that makes perfect sense now. I never even thought about them mounting like that. Hopefully I don’t have to work this weekend and I can install some new speakers back there. Thanks guys
