Factory wheels and hubcaps for a 67 f-100 4x4

I bought some factory hubcaps off of a 72 f-100 4x4 but they won't fit the wheels that I thought were factory ones on my 67 f-100 4x4. Does anyone know if the wheels on the 72 will fit my 67?

Ford 5x5.5" wheels will fit anything from the 30's-96. Even Jeep wheels will fit a Ford. In your case, your 67 (or whatever wheels they are since it was a ranch truck wasn't it?) wheels must be innie wheels whereas the 72 has dog dish argent silver outie hubcaps. Innie and outie refers to the wheels nubs where the hubcaps fit around. The only thing that will fit over the 4x4 hub and was made for it is the Ranger wheel covers used by 4wd F-100's and EB's that had the plastic insert removed. The dog dish argent hubcaps will have to be cut out as they were never made for 4x4 use.

Last year for F100 'innie' wheels was 1966. 'Outie' wheels were introduced in 1965 F100, so 1965/66's could have either.

Optional full wheel covers were introduced in 1966 for F100 2WD & 4WD, were available thru 1977. These wheel covers were standard equipment on 1967/77 Bronco's.

2WD front and rear wheel covers have a red plastic center emblem. 4WD front wheel covers have a red plastic ring that allows the 4WD's hub to poke thru.

But, there were 4 different versions of these wheel covers for 1966 Galaxie/LTD! What the hell was FoMoCo thinking!?

Here are picks of my 67's wheels and the wheel cover off of the 71. You're right that
they take the innie covers. Don't the wheels look extra wide? I was wanting to put the 71's wheels on the 67 truck since these hubcaps fit them.

Those are 78-79 styled hubcaps. And since that is a 16.5 wheel, it is not a Ford rim.

Those wheel covers are not correct for any bumpside truck. They were used on the dentsides starting in about 77 or 78 IIRC.

These are "outie" hub caps, there were no "innie" hubcaps for F100's after 1966.

D7TZ-1130-A .. Hub Cap - Bright Finish - 10 13/16" diameter = 1977/79 F100/150 2WD Front/Rear; 1977/79 F150 4WD & 1978/79 Bronco Rear.

D7TZ-1130-B .. Hub Cap - Bright Finish - 10 13/16" diameter = 1977/79 F150 4WD & 1978/79 Bronco Front.

Innie = So called because the hub cap snaps over tabs located on the inside of the wheels center section.

Outie = So called because the hub cap snaps over tabs located on the outside of the wheels center section.

Wheel covers cover the entire wheel, while hub caps only cover the center of the wheel.

15" wheels introduced in 1955 F100. 16" wheels were optional for 1955/79 F100; 1966/79 Bronco & 1975/79 F150.

1956/66 F100's were also available with optional 17.5" x 5.25" wheels.

Those wheels have been "reversed". The center section removed, reversed, then welded back in. What we are looking at is the back of the rim but the front of the center section.

Notice Jeff that those tires are 16.5 so you are correct that they have been farmerized by welding 5 lug centers to 16.5 outer rims. Those wheels wouldn't have been balanced so they would be a real danger on the road.

KEEN eye there Rich. I didn't catch the tire size. Keep this up and I'll name you Kingdom Optometrist.

Thanks, Jeff, I must be clairvoyant also since I called out the ranch truck wheels in post #2 and 5.

That work would be typical for J.R. Simplot Land & Livestock Division equipment.

Ok, obviously I'm a moron. I didn't even notice that they were 16.5's! That being said, yes it came off of a ranch in Oregon and spent its whole one owner life there. It was definitely "farmerized". Thanks everyone, I'm going back into my safe place now.

So am I correct in assuming that 67 4x2 wheels are the same as 4x4 wheels?

Yes. 4X2 and 4X4 are the same wheels.
