Last month I read 'Ship of Ghosts' by same author. Both excellent. Oh, and I love the photo of the two trucks and a tank.
Im always looking for good WWII books. I'll checks these out. Thanks.

  • Established one of the world's leading Ford dealerships
  • Pioneered the remanufacture of automobile engines and power train components and established the largest parts remanufacturing business in the country
Fred Jones made headlines in 1934 by telling Henry Ford, ?€œYou make ?€˜em, Henry, and I?€™ll sell ?€˜em!?€? He made history by doing it.

Fred Jones (Oklahoma's largest dealer) took over the former Ford assembly plant in Oklahoma City to remanufacture parts. The building is there today, now converted for mixed usage.

What about this idea, would it draw crankcase blow by etc. or would the crankcase be pressurized?

Wouldn't you need a PCV valve in the run somewhere?
Or just use a road pipe?

This is an add from a magazine in the '40's so no PCV valves then. They are proposing to connect the road pipe to the exhaust pipe. I am wondering how well that would work.

1937 Packard 110 had a rudimentary PCV system.

I was reading about the history of PCV the other day. A Wiki article claims it was invented for pollution control in the early 1960s. Supposedly though, Ford used a type of PCV on some of their military gasoline engines during World War II, but I seriously doubt pollution/emissions were a concern at that point. Was this part of a river fording kit? That's the only thing I can think of.

Not aware of a factory system like this, tho I'm not necessarily a crankcase ventilation historian. My '59 had a road tube, my '64 had a PCV; I assume they went from one to the other, finding the PCV was a necessity.
