new member! new truck!
Hi, just picked up a 68 f250 4x4. It appears based on my research the installed a grill out of a 72? Would I be looking at replacing the whole front clip to get it back to stock? Lastly.. what is my best choice for a website vendor for new/reproduction parts? Thanks!

Nice truck and welcome to FTE!
In addition to the grille, you will need the correct lower valance panel (between grille and bumper). Other than that, you're good to go. 1968 grilles are not reproduced, but '69s (nearly identical) are.

save the center bar in the middle of the grill? or the bar along the lower edge of the hood? I would assume the hood bar is needed to compliment the new grill for a 68 when I get one.

lol.. I like the look of a stock body/trim. still remember a neighbor bringing home a ne high boy and I rode my tricycle under it.
#12
The trim over the grille on your hood is a '70-'72 piece, so it would be out of place over a '68 grille. Some guys like to add them anyway.
You should be able to sell the grille, bezels and hood trim and recoup some of the cost of a repro grille or a used one.

Grilles (and other trim level basics)See Body Trim and Insignias for more detailed information on grilles and headlight trim.
1967
The new '67 F-series trucks were redesigned to a squared-off look with the headlights worked into the rectangular grille. The parking lamps were located under the headlights. The interior increased in size and had more glass. Three trim levels (base, Custom Cab and Ranger) were offered. The Ranger had color-keyed carpeting and door panels and plusher seats (in a cab that was 3 inches wider inside than it's predecessor) and chrome exterior trim (such as the grille) standard. Other improvements of the '67 model included larger tires, a bigger clutch and a heavier, stronger frame permitting increased carrying capacity.

1968
The grille got a new look. To comply with Federal safety standards, reflectors were added to the hood emblems and the rear of the bed. Inside, Ford improved the armrests, changed to safety door releases and breakaway window cranks, and redesigned the heater controls.
(The grille shown here is the optional Ranger version. The grille emblem was only used in '68-'69)
1969
The grille was the same as 1968 except that a groove was stamped on the center horizontal bar. Corinthian White was used for the standard grille which changed again midyear to anodized, and on Ranger models the groove in the aluminum grille was painted red. The headlight surrounds were painted black in the center and included the grille emblem, which was the last year this grille emblem was used. Starting in late-'69 a 302-c.i. V8 with 220 horsepower was now offered, in addition to the former engine choices.

As we all know, Dennis Carpenter is selling reproduced 68/69 grilles. These grilles are the indented ones which actually make them for the 69.
Back in the day, these were the replacement grilles for anything from 67 through 69.
These Taiwan grilles with "SUB-PAR" anodizing will set you back $750.00 but that's not all, the anodizing on these grilles will last approx, 6 months out-doors, and maybe 1 year if garaged kept.
I tried to work with Harvey and Dennis regarding the reproduction of their new grilles, but they thought they new better. So I bought one just to see for myself.
The holes are slightly off but will work. Over all the grille is not that bad unless your looking for perfection.
The anodizing will start to yellow when exposed to 100° temps for two months. We verified this when we left it outside just to see what would happen. Once this happens you need to have it stripped and sealed.
Dennis did not want to send me one for critiquing, because he knows so much more than anyone else. But screw him, I did my own research and I know their grille will cost more in the end.
So for all you guys trying to save a buck, buy that Taiwan crap and call me when you need it re-done. By the way, I charge a "Stupidity Fee" if purchased through D.C.
I tried to stay out of their business but they chose to start the battle. They also list their 66 grilles as made in The U.S. of A. These grilles are also made in Taiwan. They had so much trouble with these grilles, that's why I offered my service for the 69 grilles. Dennis blew it so all I can say is, "Who ever buys these grilles be prepared to have them re-polished and sealed."
Some of you may not like my comment, some of you might. When a company does you wrong you might go after their throat. I won't unless I have the ammunition to back it up. AND I DO!!!!
D.C. sells other good parts, but not anything that requires anodizing.
