I just purchased a 2012 F250 XLT with the 6.2. It has 38,000 miles on it. Yesterday I noticed, when coming to a stop, the idle will sometimes drop below 500. The engine will stumble a little, then the RPM will jump up to 1,000. Twice it has stalled on me. When it stalls, the engine will restart just fine. No codes in the computer or warning lights on the dash.
I will be bringing it back to carmax, as it is under their 30 day warranty still. Hopefully they will be able to figure out something.
Just wanted to see what you guys thought about it. I did some searching and didn't find much. I am thinking either the TB needs to be cleaned, or there is an issue with the canister purge valve. I saw the TSB for the CPV but it doesn't cover my truck.
No warning lights on the dash? You really need to have the codes read to be able to zero in. Too many possibilities to just start rattling off possible causes. That trucks still has Fords 5yr/60K warranty so if Max doesn't fix it take it to Ford.
Circle back to close the loop when the fix is found.

Congrats on the truck, TallEddie1981! Keep us in the loop moving forward. If you decide to go to your local Ford Dealership, I'll be able to check out some options to assist.
CarMax diagnosed it as a bad canister solenoid according to the service writer. Said it may be a few days to get the part, will update me tomorrow.
Luckily there were codes in the computer. I checked with my scan tool and didn't see anything. So mine may not be advanced enough to read the codes that were present.
Intermittent problems always concern me, because of how hard they can be to diagnose. Hopefully this part will solve the issue I was having.
Picked up my truck from CarMax today, they replaced the canister purge valve. No more low idle or stalling.
Prior to the repair, when coming to a stop, I would watch the Tach. The RPM's would be a little erratic. I would see the needle drop from around 1100 to 700, then would jump up a little to about 900, the slowly drop again. Occasionally, during the erratic jumps up and down, the RPM;s would fall below 500, this would usually cause the truck to stall.
Post repair, the RPM's come down nice and smooth when coming to a stop. The RPM's still jump very slightly when the trans downshifts, but the jump is no where near the jump prior to the repair.
Hopefully I described the symptoms well enough. There is not much information out there about the 6.2, because it appears to be a well built motor. Just trying to add to the wealth of information so that this will help someone in the future.
Looking forward to many years of enjoyment in my F250.
Nope, no charge at all, and they gave me a loaner car for free while the truck was being repaired. The customer service there was great.
This part just happened to start acting up two days after I bought the truck. I don't fault carmax for that. I feel they did their best to remedy the situation, so I am satisfied.
It was recommended to me to have either the Timing chair, Oil Pump, or the Purge Valve by a number of different organizations in order to correct the problem.
I found out that the Wrong size Oil Filter was installed on my Vehicle at on of the "Fast" oil change location.
I purchased a New Oil Filter from a Chevy Motor dealership for the correct size V-8 Diesel motor and Changed it out myself.
I have been driving the Truck for 2 weeks now and Have not had any Low Idle Problems since.
I have had one issues were I had to slap on my breaks to avoid a collision, but that was caused by the rapid decrease in RPM and gear change, however the Truck did not stall out and shut off like it had before the change out.
