Hi everyone,
My 2002 2wd ranger 3.0L has started staling while driving city speeds. It will stall when accelerating if i bring it above 3500 rpms it seems. i can restart immediately by either shifting to neutral if I am rolling or park if I am at a stop. On two other occasions it seems consistant. While pulling into the driveway with no throttle after hitting the bump it stalls. Also, while driving at highway speeds of 75-80 the tach will stay unusually low, just below or at 2000 rpms. Any ideas are greatly appreciated.
You know Mytmaus, I just noticed that you have a 02 model, is it still under warranty???
If so make this your Dealer & Fords problem, before you turn any wrenches or replace any parts on it. So if you still decide have the computer scanned, don't let them erase any codes they find, just read & record whats there & post all they find here.
Then you'll likely have a fairly good idea whats wrong, before you pay the Dealer a visit.
Wow, I found it. Apparently my lead power wire for my sound system came loose and was just hanging out inside my engine bay directly connected to the battery. I've been driving around with my stereo off so I didn't even notice, but everytime i hit a bump or accelerated it would tap a ground point in the engine and short everything out. I was looking for something like the fuel pump or egr valve so I didn't notice this until now. Everything works now and that explains why there were no codes stored. Thanks pawpaw for your willingness to help so quickly.
