air bag light stays on

I am looking at a 2000 explorer at an auto dealership that ran out excellent, but the air bag light/indicator stays on. It was a nice vehicle except for that. So I ran a check on Carfax and it showed clean, no accidents or airbag deployment, etc. Should I be worried that it had been in an accident and it doesn't show?

Bring it by Auto Zone or Advance Auto they will pull the codes for free. Or bring it by a Ford Dealership and ask them.

Does your air bag light flash a code on startup? It should flash a number of times, pause, flash another number, longer pause and repeat two more times. All I know is that a 36 or 37 is a seat sensor. Under either front seat is a small electrical plug that is easy to be hit by anyone in the backseat. Look for an unplugged plug or a broken wire. Hope that helps.

airbag light stays on in explorer

Thanks, it flashes on and off and then stays on during driving. There is no code that I see.

Count the flashes. When you start the vehicle count the flashes till you get a pause (that's the first number), count the number of flashes till you get another pause (that's the second number), It should repeat that sequence twice more. Let me know.
