Started on a normal drive after a passing move which took me to 80mph then back to 70. Thought it was exhaust leak at first but it did not follow with acceleration or deceleration. Outside of the truck sounds similar to a gassers lifters clanking (never heard diesels to compare) but not consistent.
loss of power, but lots still there. kinda feels like I'm dragging something
at 1:10 it happens
at 3:20 I punched it and you can sort of hear it at the end of the deceleration.
I am at a loss on this one all SGII values are in normal range EOT/ECT at time it first happen was 205/210
The white in the Degas is old Cleaned the inside of the cap put it back on and wiped off a section there to see if it returns about 2 months ago and it hasn't.

It doesn't sound like it's running right. You need to get it code scanned. Almost sounds like a pushrod.
I was thinking something of that nature. SGII said no codes.

hope not its been a year but I shelled out a grand to pretty much replace it all. Once I get out there that is one thing I will do is remove the belt and run it to make sure its not something holding it back.

It's NOT a good code scanner for an 03 or 04 motor. I'd get it done at a parts store. You might try this code that will show DTC's that the SGII won't specifically display:

I was looking up what it takes to replace the pushrods /rocker arms in one of the posts you gave a PDF of the procedure. One question for you Do i really need those special tools?
First with cranking using DieselTechRons' method does lope a bit
Once I start it I can hear possible valve train "ticking"
2:10 I remove the oil cap - no blow by
3:00 I switch the high idle on - shortly after that the noise begins the camera picks up more of the engine noise though. Standing there it was much louder then in the video.
Well there is nowhere I can get the pushrods today.
I know the answer is no, but I have to ask can I drive 110 miles in 55 mile increments (to and from work tomorrow?) I'm trying to get another ride, but its not looking so good. I'll have tues off to work on it.
In the mean time I guess I can try to figure out which one(s), I dont have access to AE or IDS (aside form taking it in). I have narrowed it down to driverside (yay..sorta) I'll try the hose method to figure out which cylinder. Any other way to tell which is the offender, outside of taking it out and looking at it
You may have pending contribution codes that AutoZone, O'Reillys etc can pull.
Josh
cool I'll run down there in a bit and see what they can do.

Unless you're studded, then you can just remove a stud nut. You have to be able to move the rocker arm somehow.
