Unless you're studded, then you can just remove a stud nut. You have to be able to move the rocker arm somehow.
yeah... not studded.
cool thanks for info, looks like I got some work ahead of me!

i had a very similar noise in mine last spring after I changed the HPOP. Sounded like a rod was going to come through the side. After 3-4 restarts it went away.......for 2500 miles then she started making HEAVY black smoke and cracked an injector tip. We have 1 known shop in the province that can function HEUI injectors, he says the only cracked injectors he's aware of are from water in fuel. Could be you have a trace in the system, but not enough to trip the light
Water is possible been a lot of drastic temp changes here. Especially between night and day temps and the truck has been sitting at 1/2 tank for a week or so.
Plan on swaping out offending Push rod(s) tomorrow, Ill visually inspect injectors too. I have the o-ring kits handy bought an extra set last time I had them out.
Just curious. When you passed the vehicle and reached 80 mph did the RPMs go above 4,000? (i.e. is it possible a valve floated and there was a piston strike?).
I have a rev limiter set at 3,800 and thought I could go higher - perhaps I will simply leave it where it is.

Good question, I am not sure? Its possible I was going up hill but I cant say for sure.
WTF! the new Pushrod I got from the Ford dealer is bent!
AND the old ones appear fine. Rockers look good to.
I got them out and was rolling along a marble counter top and looking at the gap to see which one is the culprit. I couldn't tell so I got the NEW one out of the package and rolled it for comparison only to see that it was bent. It rested and rolled back and forth in place to. I had to double check myself and the copper end was not warn on the bent one go figure...
OH yeah and out hear in California the repair shops PAC got legislation passed that parts-houses cant scan you vehicle for codes... They say it was taking too much money away from the shops.
SO I just unplugged the injectors from the side the noises were coming from one at a time until there was no reaction. Found it at number 6

Did you happen to notice if any of the push rods or rockers were abnormally loose before you disassembled it? Im wondering if you didn't loose the needle bearings from one of the lifter rollers.

well... they were as "loose" as the others that were in that position. I am hoping lifters are not the problem BUT seems to be the only thing left?
I guess an oil change is in order so I check for metal in the pan.
I am inspecting the injector with a magnifier but I dont see anything obvious. I some spare old injectors but they got rusty, I might change the coils at least.
I am about to just let it sit for a bit, until I can build up the funds to send it in.
I have a decent Job starting tomorrow, when I get paid for it next week I'm going to have to go ahead and get me the AE set up.
then give a it full run of testing with that HOPEFULLY it will lead me in the right direction. If not it will still come in handy in the future being I'm never getting rid of this truck... ever, I love it too much

Back together and took a short test drive.
still running like crap and the "turbo fart" sound at deceleration on the first video is still there but worse. Its on acceleration now too and lots of black smoke couldn't get past 35 tranny didn't want to shift due to lack of power I am sure.
Boost at 15psi while trying ot get up to speed
VGT 65 at idle.
this is very frustrating. I have searched and search the forum with so many terms I still cant find anything that resemble what is going on with MY truck right now.
