OK, I was worried... but with Garry, Spongebob, Boblo Truckcasso (noted internet artist) and their better halves scheduled to attend we can now call this a party!!! If you're on my contact list and haven't let me know about hotel plans yet I'll be contacting you to see if you're still planning on attending. I have 36 on my list right now (FTE members & guests). I'd like to make a final decision about releasing hotel rooms by 4/17. Most of you have made reservations at the Parke Regency. I need to make sure I'm not responsible for any damages! I realize not everyone can commit to attending right now. I think there will be hotel rooms available after 4/17 if needed. I've got my directions together and am now just trying to finalize the agenda and then I'll eMail everyone the info. This will be sent no later than a month out (4/17). If you have any questions prior to that contact me @ rojakk64@gmail.com. I'm really looking forward to the first ever Flatlander Truckfest!
55 degrees and sunny today at the Flatlander Truckfest world headquarters. I fired up the 75 Highboy and drove around out in the field. I ran into the group pictured below. They came in a bit early to get a good spot.
Maybe Spring is finally arriving in Central IL. Possibly mid to high 60's this weekend. Time to get on my "OMG a Bunch of FTE's are Coming to Visit" jobs at the farm. I'll keep everyone updated!
That looks like a bunch of guys I saw at the Kickapoo creek festival I was at in the late 60's early 70's. it was such a good time I can't remember exactly when it was but it was fun

Ahhh... the Kickapoo Creek Rock Festival... Memorial Day 1970. Our famous Central IL post-Woodstock bash. That is quite a claim to fame Dave! I was age 6 at the time and I know my parents put my sister and I in the car and tried to drive down there after hearing reports of what was going on. My parents were not hippies (Dad was a banker) by any means they just wanted to check it out. The crowd was pretty big I guess as they could not get near the grounds. Some pretty big name acts on the bill that day I guess. A local guy actually produced a documentary on the show a few years ago called "Incident at Kickapoo Creek". I got a poster after the screening. Truckfest will be a little quieter (I'm hoping).
Haven't been able to work on the F3 again Jeff. Will try again this weekend to get it started. We are so close... I've got several non-runners that I'd like to have running by Truckfest time. Good goal to shoot for!
BTW, If you're coming to Truckfest please print out this form and bring to Truckfest:
Rob, we're a tough crowd
Yeah, I know if this sucks I'm one and done!
Not sure I can match the scenic beauty of Eastern KY and the Truckstock grounds and then there is the skilled hosting ability of Doc and family! This is alot of pressure... Not a competition, just another opportunity to feed our addiction. I'm looking forward to it!
I think I might have some entertainment lined up for Saturday (no not that kind - it's a family event remember). Since we are in pretty close proximity to Chicago I wanted to go for some blues. I'm trying to lock that down. We have the mid-day meal covered for Saturday. My idea for the evening meal on Saturday turned out to be a bit expensive so I'm looking for another option. I'm also trying to figure out a couple of cruises we might do... a shorter one for Saturday and a longer one Sunday morning. The main emphasis is still to hang out and get to know each other and the trucks. We have a shop where we can pull the trucks in and look them over and work on them if needed. I think it would be cool for some to pull their trucks into the shop and tell us about what they've done. I'm hoping the wives will enjoy that!
I hope it doesn't involve a trapeze, dance pole, Spongebob jammie pants and an easy going northern Kentucky member.
Yes, that's exactly what I want to do. I don't think any of us want you to over extend yourself, this is suppose to be fun for everyone.
Spongebob will have to sign a liability waiver if he wants to swing on the trapeze!
The main emphasis on Saturday is just hanging around the farm but I've got a photo op spot picked out on Route 66 that those that are interested could cruise to. It is not very far. Sunday we'd get out and drive a bit for those interested in that.
