Cold air intake

I am looking to upgrade. I am on a budget and the bottom half of m factory box is broke and wont hold the factory clips.

What do yall think about S&B? this looks like the best price for a sys that deletes my broke parts.
S&B 75-5028 Cold Air Intake Kit (Cleanable Filter) 99-03 Ford Powerstroke 7.3L

This truck is stock and longevity is more important than HP. I do have stuff to haul, thats why I own it.

I do not have a problem with red oil filters. 85000 on the K& N no problems.
Just hate that the box leaks cuz 1 of the clips is tore out.

penny for your thoughts

Oh spit no sig

S&b is good for a sealed intake. Most people like the Ford AIS intake.

Plus a 3-4" piece of 4" pipe and you're good to go.

I googled the riffraff PN, I doubt that will fix my broken box.
The site needs work, if you click on install instructions you get everything from soup to nuts.

You remove your box, and the 6637 filter just sits right there, then you just need to get a tube to fit from there. Your stock box will come out with the 6637 setup, and its prob one of the cheapest.

I really like my S&B. I used to have the 6637, while it filtered very well, and was inexpensive, I wanted a more enclosed system closer to a stock configuration. It is designed and built well and is a clean looking set up. I also like the cleanable filter.

The AIS is not washable but it will go a year or more under normal conditions before needing replacing. I highly recommend it.

Also, take a look at why you are getting a CAI? Is it to get cold air into the engine? You have an intercooler for that. The CAI will not make a measurable decrease in intake air temps. The AIS and most CAIs are about the same price, but the AIS will filter much better.

Just food for thought, nothing wrong with the S&B just making sure you know what you're paying for.

You would be happy with the AIS. I have one and I like it. It flows good and filters excellent. Looks like factory equiptment too. It comes with everything you need for installation.

It darn well should. Ford had a lot of say in the design of that filter, which is why it is the only aftermarket intake ever approved by Ford.

When the little round tab, that the clip hooks on, broke on one end, I made a piece of aluminum shaped like an upside down J. I hooked it over the tab as a reinforcement, and pop riveted it to the box. Keeps lid down as tight as I am.

Here is a guy that understands my budget, Thanx Hammer.

Just so happens I had one of those laying around. Now I have time to dirty up that new paper filter before I call Clay.
