Ok, I have made my decesion on what upgrades I want to get for my truck. First one being an air intake. The only problem now is which one do I get? Who makes the best one on the market for the money? Right now I have the stock box, and I am looking to replace it with the best bang for the buck. So guide me to the right one please. Thanks.
IMO, the Tymar is the best "bang for the buck." It uses a Donaldson filter just like the Ford AIS, but costs a lot less. The Ford AIS is also a great intake, but costs a few more dollars. You're on the right track, the Ford factory airbox is not known for quality.
If you use the search feature for keywords like Tymar, AIS, AFE, and K&N, you'll get a variety of opinions and at least a couple of hours worth of reading.

I would recomend tymar. Stay away from k and n, they let too much dirt through and will raise silicon levels almost 3 times ( silicon being dirt ) in the oil. The tymar is a great intake, so is the ais. If you still have factory warrenty, i think they might question you about the tymar intake if the motor gives as where if you had the AIS they would not blink.
I agree with all the above. I have the AIS. I am very happy with it. But the reason I went with that instead of the Tymar is because I have 45k left on my warranty. Had that not been the case, I would have went with the Tymar. Plus the Tymar gets cool points for the amplified whistle from your turbo due to the fact that it's an open element filter. Good luck!
tymar all the way! if your worried about warranty just take it off before service and install your original box and filter before takin her in to get checked up. they wont know the diffrence at the dealer, trust me thats what i do, and they dont have the slightest clue
about this tymar intake where would i go to get one, i tried looking on the net but the web site said future site for tymar performance i want one but just dont know how to get one
On that website (the future home of...)it lists both an email and a phone number. Call because the email is usually backed up for more than a week. The 1997 and earlier intake costs about $110.
